And he's still a complete noob. Sheesh Toast, pick up the pace. -
Hah, I can one up you there. I had an exam one semester that said it was at 1, I went in and apparently they had changed it to 9am without telling me. Luckily my doctor is awesome so he just wrote me a note and called in saying I have sleep problems so I couldn't make it. Instant write-off. :D Quite honestly I have no real expansionist goals in mind for some Romanian Empire. I need the Slavic countries to be able to keep my growth as good as the gigantic bloated empires that undoubtedly pop up, and need the manpower to withstand an invasion and have some measure of influence over the events in the thread.

Except to get the 10 miles they'd have to have all their travel permits in order, their passports, then check through the borderpoint, then when returning they'd have to declare their goods, which would then be taxed. So, the groceries may be cheaper, but it doesn't mean it wouldn't cost said person more of their money to go through the process to actually buy them.
-
I think it can. Considering that the EU isn't simply about trading, I doubt all these countries would suddenly drop all the political history just to run to the EFTA because you can buy a loaf of bread for a couple 10 pence cheaper. Also, due to your agreement not to trade with non-EFTA members, you essentially cut out a big part of your 'master plan'. If they don't join then you won't sell them the goods. Your plan relies on controlling the market and flooding as many countries as possible with these cheap goods, yet since they haven't joined EFTA they can't buy goods from you, and they won't allow these cheap goods into their country as it would destabilize their economies. Essentially, you've bought up a lot of food that nobody is going to buy. The vote we should be having is whether the Swiss citizens decide to have a vote of no confidence on their leader for spending the entire gold reserves on bread and beer that nobody wants.

Romania has disbanded its army, and is using the money saved to improve infrastructure and industrial capacity.

I'm in an alliance with Russia. Plus, I'm a douche.

Talks with Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Macedonia are going VERY well now, thanks to the whole "I'm going to collapse Europe's economy!", "No, I am!" poo-flinging contest that's going on between Germany and Switzerland. A unified Slavic country would be able to remain stable even if the European Union's economy collapsed.

Lol, SWITZERLAND HATES FARMERS ahhhhhh

You're sure that ethnic Ukrainians outnumber Germans? I've only met one ethnic Ukrainian (that said she was anyway) in my entire life. On the other hand, I've met loads of ethnic Germans as well as ethnic Irish. What part of the US do you live in? Central Arkansas. I will concede that it has a high Celt population, though. I've seen a lot of Germans in the Mid-West and where I live. Fair enough, I was simply guessing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_and_ethnic_demographics_of_the_United_States

Romania has dropped out of the EU, but hasn't joined EFTA. It's still under consideration. You are the United States in this game, remember.
-
Keep in mind Romania is in the EU...

Chocolate or Peanut? Laxative coating. We give them to foreign dignitaries we don't like.

Oh please. If you got Malaysia then you would be saying "I can't have an Indian Thailand so close to Malaysia.". -- Romania has started a joint project 'M&M' with Switzerland.

The countries you listen aren't anywhere near me. Half are bordering the North Sea by Scandinavia, and the others are in Siberia/Eurasia, so they'd go with you. The ones I'm talking about border on the Black Sea. It's more a matter of principle. I can't embargo Japan and not embargo India, since that would be like picking sides.
-
Yes. You managed to get 5 countries within a year. That is what I said. Also, to the countries I just embargoed: Japan: Germany: India: Aha economics is a tool of war just as any other! -- Romania starts project M&Ms

Important to note: Mather has all of Scandinavia after 1 turn. -Romania has trade embargoed Japan. -Romania has trade embargoed Germany. -Romania has trade embargoed India. -Romania has lowered some of the trade tariffs on goods from Russia, to encouraged trade between the two countries. -Romania has lowered some of the trade tariffs on goods from Canada, to encouraged trade between the two countries. -Romania has lowered some of the trade tariffs on goods from Switzerland, to encouraged trade between the two countries. -Romania has lowered some of the trade tariffs on goods from the United Kingdom, to encouraged trade between the two countries. Note to Germany: Romania supplies a fairly large chunk of oil to Europe.

The Christian-Democratic National Peasant's Party (It exists! Look it up...) has won the election in Romania. Romania disbands its compulsory military service program, will be a volunteer only army. Building massive additions to the University of Bucharest, as well as the central university library. Renowned architect Villard de Honnecourt has been brought in to ensure that the buildings retain their distinct architectural style through the additions. Talks have been good with South Slavic countries, and seeing the recent economic trouble within the EU, the increasingly hostile military stance of Germany, and the recent clashes in Asia, they are becoming more and more warm to the idea of a Slavic Federation, that would be much more able to defend itself and prosper economically. Building roads and improving highways, as well as building solar plants and windmills. -Romania moves 1 slider over the Democratic, and 1 to Central Planning. Weee HoI. Romania has also joined SIRO TEMP with the Scandinavians.
-
Yes, Romania is in talks with south Slavic countries to become a unified Slavic Federation.

Romania accepts an alliance with Russia.
