  1. USD, from my surplus. Let's just say I added the amount to my reserve (from surplus) and paid with USD from my reserve to avoid all the currency exchanging and whatnot that would end up with the numbers being the same as before.
  2. And because Switzerland is a death trap? EDIT: nvm, they're based in the US. Whoops.
  3. The Slavic Republic has purchased 191.3 tonnes of gold that the International Monetary Fund was selling for $6.2b. The IMF has also re-located its headquarters to Bucharest. Slavic Republic- Dusty Gold Tonnes 1,597.80 US Dollars: 45,643,798,760.80 US Reserve 33,985,290,000.00 Norwegian Krone: 5,000,000,000.00 Foreign Currency in Dollars: 950,000,000.00 Total Dollars: 80,579,088,760.80
  4. Research is needed before you can start making super-helos. Also, idk if all of SA has 1k tonnes of gold in reserve. Yeah, Brazil is listed at 33 tonnes.
  5. I suppose I could've changed the first comma to '...'. We need a dramatic pause comma icon!
  6. ? Retech bought a monopoly within the SR so that Russia wouldn't be allowed to sell algae-fueled cars there.
  7. They're Islamic immigrants who gained German citizenship. And Dusty is being rather niggardly over the gold reserve issues in South Africa, although the whole situation is stupid. What? I have a trade deal with South Africa. So, someone taking gold from there means I'm not getting the gold that I'm paying for. -- Why would the Dutch Republic suddenly become a protectorate of the US? -- AK2015s and other various weapons are being smuggled into Iran. For a healthy profit, of course. A new line of weapons is starting research, and the team working on them has been granted $140m a year. Estimated time is 4 years. -- The cleaning of the Dâmboviţa River is complete (which has now been ranked one of the cleanest rivers in the world). Factories and buildings that pollute toxic waste into the river face severe fines, and in extreme cases may lose their permit to operate within the city. The SR is building an additional 12 large recycling plants across the country, as well as starting Project RM (related). The financial district in Bucharest is complete. Parks, fountains, and statues denote the importance of the area, as well as towering skyscrapers, numerous corporate headquarters, as well as the huge National Bank of The Slavic Republic, which is a marble/granite interior building built in the style of the Pantheon. Great Library of Bucharest/World History Museum/Constanta Shipyard still being built. Additions to the University of Bucharest has been completed, and is now the largest university in existence. Numerous renowned teachers, professors, and experts from across the world have been offered positions within the University, and a fair number have accepted, likely due to the lucrative salary offered by the SR government. The GDP of the Slavic Republic has also started skyrocketing, due to the huge boom in manufacturing, industry, and economic stability. Conservative estimations are that the current growth rate of 10-12% will continue for the next 5 years, before slowly stabilizing at around 6%. 800 Slavic Republic soldiers have landed in Indonesia, and will help co-ordinate the aid effort, and set up a base of operations for civilian volunteers that will inevitably flood in soon. -- The SR is also looking into new materials for roads that will prevent them from cracking and requiring constant maintenance. Any other country is welcome to help. The new alloy has been finished for the deep sea exploration submarine, despite India's withdrawal from the project (Rocco buggered off from India). The team is now working on electronic equipment that won't break down, and communications equipment that will be able to transmit findings that far below the surface (and in case of emergencies). Project FW1 is almost complete, with nearly every gas station across the country having inputs for electric cars. The sale of algae-fuel cars within the SR is, disappointing to Honda-Toyota, to say the least. Most have a somewhat distant feeling towards gas powered cars, given the new push towards green energy. It's not seen as something that could be accepted widely by the population unless significant steps in the marketing campaign of the fuel and the cars are made. Project Framework is also coming along nicely, with one of the new rivers that has been created from the Black Sea running across the SR, and providing easy access to water in areas that never had before. Farms are starting up in these areas. Immigration has been loosened as well, and a flood of immigrants has been coming into the country. They are reminded that while it is expected that they will maintain their cultural identity, that anything that goes against the beliefs of the Slavic people will not be accepted (eg. Sharia Law). Due to the new wave of Islamic extremism in Europe, the Slavic government has issued the statement that the Republic is open to all religions, but acts of violence with the sole motivator being religion will not be tolerated.
  8. bloody computer bugging out on me, just deleted a huge post i was making. will edit.
  9. The internet is becoming increasingly aware that the government of Switzerland seems to be controlling all the messages on S-Net...
  10. It didn't. Retech is delusional in this case. However, I didn't much feel like having one of the biggest gold exporters be 'fanatically loyal' to Japan, so I sent in aid workers to help out as well. -- Nobody is going to bid on the military of Croatia? If not it'll be sold to an un-named country (that would realistically be buying as much military hardware as possible, considering recent events and the way the world is moving).
  11. Serious repercussion as in South Africa demanding the gold back that you stole, or the UN demanding you return the gold, or some other repercussion. 50 to you, 223 to me. Apparently the deal will take 6 years now. Lovely.
  12. How did 4000 volunteers take over all the mines in South Africa? Np Yes. I really did. I made a deal with Retech while he had quasi-control over the South African government. That deal was never cancelled. I could maybe see being able to sneak out 10 tons of gold, at most. Taking the entire yearly production, with 4000 volunteers, from a poor country, with no Swiss military...no. Your 'aid' workers would get murdered. What you've essentially said is that you stole 300 tonnes of gold from a country. Even if that were plausible (which it's not), there would be some serious repercussions for that action.
  13. -- Here's what I mean: -You have no soldiers there -The amount of gold you're saying you gained is more than the entire yearly output of every single gold mine in South Africa -I bought the gold Therefore, you gained nothing. The South Africans thank you for your aid and assistance, but are happy the maniac Swiss have left their country.
  14. You didn't gain anything.
  15. Stealth helicopters don't work. A hundred of the SR troops in South Africa have taken back the gold mines from Swiss control, and given them back to the government of South Africa. It also tells Switzerland that any other actions against aid workers in South Africa will prompt equal response from the SR government, and perhaps the UN as well.
  16. Which reminds me. The military equipment from Croatia is up for sale. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian_Ground_Army http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian_Air_Force_and_Defense (I will be keeping 8 MiG-21bisD s) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian_Navy (I will be keeping 2 fast attack 'king' class cruisers, 4 mirna class patrol boats, and 1 minehunter) Bidding starts at 10b. To be paid as: 1/20th gold, 19/20 currency
  17. Well, if we're going by 1% of your GDP, then you have 21.26 billion to spend each year. A Virginia Class sub (modern US navy) costs $2.8b (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_class_submarine) So, you can build 8 (rounded up) per year. And that's using your entire surplus.
  18. :wall: You would flood the market and make them worthless. 100 jets and 100 submarines...do you know how much 1 jet and 1 submarine costs? Also, Russian car companies are barred from setting up in the SR. Honda-Toyota has a monopoly here for a while, and nobody would work for a Russian company anyways. [hide=AK2015][/hide] Emphasis is on a powerful gun that can shoot through infantry armour, is reliable, and is cheap to mass produce.
  19. It's always funny watching people get all flustered about the benefits and cost of using Marijuana (that's probably the first time I've actually spelled it in full haha). Personally, I'm apathetic to the whole thing. I don't smoke myself, but don't care if people smoke it. It's their body.
  20. On the map, it appears to be separate. Holland is the western part of the Netherlands. It would be like saying Canada and Quebec form together to make the Canadian Federation. Lol.
  21. I'm not voting yet. It doesn't matter either way to me. -- Reformation of the SR military is going on. Enlistment will last for 6 months for all personnel not deemed necessary (meaning everyone but high up officers and specialist positions, like pilots and radar technicians and the like). After 6 months their term will end and they will return to civilian work and life, and new recruits will be brought in. The military isn't raising the troop level, so infantry forces will remain at 9,000, naval at 3,000, and air force at 1,000. 13,000 in total.
  22. Okay, vote. Who says the money available should be 1%? And who says 4%? 0/0 *shrug* Just don't be surprised when someone ends up invading another country with 50,000 tanks bearing the label 'Made in the Slavic Republic' on them.
  23. I've captured the king of NO STRING. Long live the new king, King Hook I! My army is now 89,000 loyalists + 400,000 troops from the past king that need to be weeded through to determine their loyalties. I pay them in dead chickens instead of coins now, though. Because they smell.
  24. 20% of your GDP you get in taxes 20% of that you can spend on random stuff So...4% of your GDP is available for spending. Also, nobody wants my hugely booming industrial complex to mass produce them weapons/vehicles/aircraft/ships?
  25. Well I already know my budget, so... I go by what's reasonable for a country my size. Which means I generally under-spend.
