  1. Nah I can just take a page out of the Archi Playbook and deflect all your legitimate information gathering with a snide comment and some well placed smiley faces  The world economy continues to be stable, Switzerland is plunged into chaos. In other news, the sale of Slavic Army Knives has skyrocketed, due to the lack of Swiss ones, which were inferior anyways and only survived through brand loyalty and brand recognition.

    War

Too many nations, cultures, and ideals exist on Earth. The only way to expand them is to take someone's elses share. Besides, war is an impossible thing to measure. Is war bad? It can be. Is it good? Sometimes. Honestly, if we didn't have warfare we'd probably still be in the stone age, since warfare is the driving force behind 90% (made up statistic) of the world's technology. The real debate comes up with nuclear weapons, when we get the power to actually force people back into the stone age.
  3. You can produce all the nerve gas you want to. If that's what you're going to feed your starving population with then good luck. Just because Switzerland has mountains and forests doesn't mean it has materials. I have a forest right near me, but I haven't found any uranium deposits in it. You can't feed anyone with a particle accelerator. Obviously you have enough water, that's a given. You can't build a factory out of water though. At least not a working one. Nice made up number of ships that pass through the Suez Canal. Also, the alternative route adds another 6,000 miles. Oh, and I don't think there's any plane in existance that can carry the same volume of oil as a super tanker. It's not foreign companies that are embargoing you. It's the bloody UN. You know, that organization you thought was useless and so left? The same one that is based in Europe, the economy of which you tried to crash? Yeah. They also surround you completely. I don't think a couple tons of gold is enough to get people to turn a blind eye to someone who just runs around gassing foreigners for no reason. Especially not when they're standing right beside you, and could very well be the next recepient of a gas bombing. Phase out the money, good idea. Kind of neccessary considering the Swiss currencies value is dropping like a rock. Ooh! Rock! That's what you can replace your currency with, rocks! You got plenty of those... *Shrug* It's been 5 days already.
  4. Hm. Too bad you don't have the resources to build those defenses anymore. Unless of course you're building them out of wood...oh wait you don't have enough of that either. Hm...I suppose you could build defenses out of oil-less plastic. Better yet, let's invoke the UN and have a bunch of NPCs jump on arguably the most valuable player the Hegemony series has ever acquired because he disagreed with Dusty! Oh wait... India constructs a small, secret smuggling ring that exports fruits into Switzerland and imports Swiss chocolate. This creates a massive chocolate monopoly in India as it now possesses the only source of arguably the best chocolate in the world. Smuggling in goods is inevitable. Smuggling in enough goods to combat the dissent rise is impossible. I hope you realize as well, Rocco, that the blocking of the Suez Canal would've hurt India's economy probably the worst out of everyone. So yes, you can go ahead and attack me for trying to prevent that. Trying to block the biggest shipping lane in history and cause widespread economic hardship is not exactl a 'mild' situation. I could put up the litany of things you've that have nothing to do with defending Switzerland nor defending the 'common man', but I've done that enough already. Everyone here knows exactly what you've done. Swiss banks won't do fine because you've seized all the money that foreign companies/people/corporations/countries have put into Swiss banks. They won't return to you. Your currency is rapidly devaluing because there's nothing to spend it on. Btw, I'll just throw this stuff out here: From the Economy of Switzerland wiki page: I suppose foreign investment is gone due to your actions... I guess 35% of your country will starve to death. Maybe 30% after smuggling is taken into account. Oh dear. Hm. So you have a rise of around 4% in unemployment. Unemployed people are rarely happy, as a rule of thumb. Well, neutrality is out the window. http://www.swissworld.org/en/economy/the_swiss_economy/dependence_on_trade/
  5. Your country would still go into chaos. You've essentially turn them from the most prosperous peaceful country, into a warped communist dictatorship. They'll be denied 80% of the foodstuffs they would've had before you came into power (stuff that is imported in, fruits in off-season, international foods, etc). Nobody would be putting money into Swiss banks, so those would collapse because they no longer have the capital to function, people would be getting steadily angry at the government every day. It's irrelevant that they have enough electricity to flip on and off the lightswitch constantly, and that they have plenty of bread and water to eat every day. Your country is essentially a gigantic prison.
  6. It's alright, in a years time his country will be in chaos anyways.
  7. Not hypocritical at all. Last game was a different game with a different set of rules. I'd like to also point out that by the time I got into the game Doom already had a continent and a half to herself. Even after my crazy annexation spree and mass expansionism our two empires were pretty much equal in every aspect.
  8. Ah you withdrew your soldiers. Then why is it that Icu said that he had 100k Russian troops in Somalia, and you had troops to attack my peacekeepers and bomb them with mustard gas? I'm pretty sure Ethiopia would be the laughing stock of the UN considering that: There were never any SSR troops in Ethiopia The SSR troops in Somalia were peacekeepers Only a third of the SSR troops had actual rifles The SSR troops never even hurt a single person Arch. I've seen more cops at a bloody football game than the number of troops that made up my "invasion" force. Honestly, I don't really see how you can't get this through your head: I was fully justified going in there. The fact that I didn't wait for a UN vote is irrelevant, as what I did would've been the exact same thing the UN would do IRL if this came up. You killed my peacekeepers without any justification. Talk? Nah, let's bomb them with mustard gas. But, whatever. I'm done debating this. I've exerted far too much effort trying to make you see just how stupid you've been acting. If you aren't done talking about how I 'invaded' with 900 peacekeepers, and how you're incredulous that anyone would be at all peeved that you've just been trying to destabilize every system in place, then you can simply go back and read through the thread and write your infuriated responses in a journal or something. This debate is over. Like I said before, have fun playing a completely neutered Switzerland that has no power, no wealth, rising dissent, and next to no influence in world events. Maybe next time you should try not to [bleep] with everything you see and expect everyone to stand by and just watch. G'day.
  9. No, it goes like so: Japan does something, wasn't here for that, don't really care Switzerland/Russia goes in to "help" the people of Somalia. Switzerland annexes Somalia. Switzerland invades Ethiopia. Switzerland annexes Ethiopia. Switzerland/Russia start building a gigantic damn in the Suez canal, that would completely [bleep] up international trade, block the largest shipping lane in the world, and cause a huge amount of economic disasters Romania sends in 900 peacekeepers, to stop the construction of the dam Switzerland kills the peacekeepers, not just with bullets, but by gassing them to death with chemical weapons The UN places sanctions and embargoes on Switzerland, considering it just commited mass murder *This is obviously ignoring the past douchebaggery on the part of Switzerland, trying to incite riots in Europe, using mustard gas on Germany, trying to collapse the economy of Europe, and disbanding the EU. This was just icing on the [cabbage] cake. I never shot anyone. Read my post again. I used tear gas to drive some of the more rowdy workers off. Not even half my force had real guns. 900 peacekeepers is not a [bleep]ing invasion. They didn't even give anyone a bloody bruise. And don't even try to take the noble route and say you're "defending" them. You just gassed the [cabbage] out of their country a year ago and annexed them.
  10. Whatever. Debating over what country it is and what treaty you signed to stop Japan from commiting genocide is completely irrelevant. I am not Japan.
  11. That's nice. You still killed peacekeepers from a country within the UN with chemical weapons. They don't care if you went into Somalia with noble intentions, considering this happened in Ethiopia. Mix-up by Sere in the posting I suppose. Though, if you keep up with the building of the dam I'm pretty sure more nasty stuff is going to come your way. So best just to leave Ethiopia and let Switzerland wallow in the [cabbage]pile its mixed up.
  12. I'm pretty sure Russia would've been expelled from the security council after invading a country without casus belli, and then trying to screw over all of Europe to build an algae pool (give me a break). To be honest, I'd rather go without Swiss chocolate then have some manical tyrant running around trying to set the world on fire and gas everyone to death. -- Anyways Arch, have fun playing a neutered Switzerland without any power, economic stability, rising dissent, and surrounded by a continent full of hostile countries.
  13. Well that'll make everyone even more pissed off. Tbh, I think that affects every active player in the game. SSR reminds Switzerland that it is completely surrounded by UN nations, and that a blockade means your entire country is essentially under siege. Someone in Switzerland likes German beer? Too bad, it'll have to be smuggled in, and that means it'll be 10x the cost. Like French wine? Same deal. Give it a year or two and your people will revolt and tear down the Swiss government. Maybe you should stop and think twice about attacking peacekeepers next time. The UN would've sent peacekeepers in to do the same thing. You were talking about cutting of the biggest shipping route in the world, and a major source of wealth for all of Europe. They do do this in real life. I also made sure to PM Sere about this to figure out what the most realistic response would be. Consider that Arch did this: -Tried to collapse the European Economy -Collapsed the EU -Used mustard gas -Tried to dam the largest shipping route in the world -Killed peacekeepers -Used [bleep]ing chemical weapons
  14. Told you not to [bleep] with my peacekeepers.
  15. In light of the news of the Swiss-Russo project to dam the Suez canal and disrupt international trade, SSR peacekeeping troops have landed in Ethiopia in the dead of night, and after a skirmish with some of the workers who are driven off with tear gas, take up positions in the construction zones. The peacekeeping force totals 900 soldiers, 2 frigates, and 4 patrol boats. They are being supplied by SSR naval vessels, but have asked for Indian assistance with supplying food. Only around 300 of these soldiers are armed with real rifles, the others have either riot shields and batons, or rifles that shoot rubber bullets/teargas canisters. The SSR troops have gas masks as well, remembering the Swiss' use of nerve gas and chemical weapons in Somalia. The SSR would like to remind both Switzerland and Russia that attempting to remove the troops through force will be considered an act of war. I wouldn't be surprised if the UN, taking into account Switzerland's past plots to destablize the world economy and create an economic disaster, would rule in favour of the SSR in this. A message to Russia is also sent reminding the Russian leadership that we are allies.
  16. I think that's pretty much just me. -- The SSR starts building the Great Library of Bucharest. It will be a sprawling building made of marble that will store rare and valuable books from around the world, which will be scanned and copied into digital format for any citizen (with a library card!) to check out from the library. The books will then be stored is underground vaults where they will be safe from contamination, disasters, tampering, and destruction at the hands of foreign militaries. If anyone knows of any rare books that your country owns, now is a chance to make some decent money for your war machines. Around 5b from the SSR reserve has been set aside for this project. The building itself will costs around $800m (USD). -- The SSR would also like to extend a deal to Brazil to purchase 200,000 tons of iron per year in exchange for $110 per ton. So, 36m per year. SSR would also like to hammer out a deal with China for 800,000 tons of coal per year at the cost of $230 per ton. So, the trade would be for 800,000 tons of Chinese coal for $184 million dollars per year. Note: These prices are slightly above the market values. Also, China is the leading exporter of coal, and Brazil holds the majority of the sea-shipping market for Iron. So, this isn't going to deplete anyones stores. I'll pm you two in case you miss this post.
  17. The South Slavic republic starts a vote with the UN for the ban of nerve gas and other chemical weapons in warfare. SSR votes 'Yes' to ban them.
  18. The South Slavic Republic has re-hired some of the armed forces personnel that lost their jobs when the military was disbanded. The force will total around 12,000 (3,000 navy, 1,000 air force, 8,000 army), and its main mission roles will be peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, and disaster relief. I did keep a few things from the Romanian army, so this is what the SSR Army is: [hide=Navy]Frigates (FFG) Regele Ferdinand (F-221) Regina Maria (F-222) Mărăşeşti (F-111) Light Frigates (FFL) Amiral Petre Bărbureanu (Tetal-I) (F-260) Contra-Amiral Eugen Roşca (Tetal-I) (F-263) Contra-Amiral Eustaţiu Sebastian (Tetal-II) (F-264) Contra-Amiral Horia Măcelaru (Tetal-II) (F-265) Patrol Corvettes Zborul (Tarantul-I) class large missile boats: Zborul (F-188) Pescăruşul (F-189) Lăstunul (F-190) Năluca (Epitrop (Romanian-built variant of the Osa)) class torpedo boats: Smeul (F-202) Vijelia (F-204) Vulcanul (F-209) Mine Warfare Vice-Amiral Ioan Murgescu (Cosar) class minelayers: Vice-Amiral Ioan Murgescu (F-271) Lt. The navy is for transport and keeping SSR shipping protected. [hide=Air Force] 8 MiG 21 Fighter Aircraft 2 IAR 99 Training Aircraft 3 Yakovlev Yak-52 Training Aircraft 10 IAR-330L Puma Transport Helicopters 2 IAR 316 Training Helicopters[/hide] Total Aircraft: 25 I have no plans on expanding this but it seems it's needed given recent...events. -- On a side note, I realize I missed including the 20 or some multiple rocket launchers in the initial sale to Russia, and these have been sent off on a train to a Russian base, at no additional charge. -- Also, Arch. Where did all your gold that you used to buy up the European surplus go to?
  19. From what I can recall, Australia started talks with Indonesia, and Japan decided to come in with troops and build artillery sites and then proceeded to declare Indonesia part of Japan thus bypassing the 5 day rule all together. That is what made Ross get all in a fit and quit. That was moreso that I didn't want to sound like I was just yelling at people for no reason. To...hm...lighten the mood. Alas, I am terrible at such things it seems.
  20. I'm sorry but "He started it!" is not a valid reason to ignore the rules. To Arch: You are Switzerland. Not Somalia. Not Italy. Not Bugundy, or Britanny, or Wallonia, or Scotland. Switzerland. To Sere: You have the most powerful country in the world, with the largest stockpile of wealth, best technology, best equipped military, and a huge abundance of natural resources. STOP PLAYING AS BRITAIN, AUSTRALIA, CANADA, AND NEW ZEALAND. You are the United States of America. Not the United States of Angloca. To Retech: Stop buggering around in the Pacific. Follow the 5 day rule. Don't try and skip around it by "peacfully" invading, which is in my opinion an oxymoron of the same calibre as 'holy war'. To Grim: Stop using Nazis. Seriously. To Mather: Gimme my money. I really don't understand why it seems to be so hard for people NOT to simply take control of another country and say they're doing whatever you want them to. Maybe it's because we all had giant 20-something odd country-empires in V1, but this is a new game. Restrain yourself, there's plenty of land.
  21. CAN PEOPLE STOP ACTING AS IF THEY HAVE CONTROL OVER NPC COUNTRIES? Because you're an imperialist, and I'm not (at least in this game). Therefore, the best move is to cut off any sort of income you can get from me, since the larger you are the more threatening you are to me. Sort of akin to what Arch is doing with Grim, except I'm not taking proxy control over North Korea and shooting missiles at you.
  22. I have an embargo on you. I just took a random image I found on the net. It's subject to change *shrug*
  23. The South Slavic Republic welcomes China to the Free Eurasian Trade Association. All projects coming along. And production on a large number of electric cars has started. Gas powered cars can be exchanged for electric cars freely. The program will cost roughly 3 billion dollar. Higher taxes have been places on manufacturing companies based on the amount they pollute, to help spur the movement to nuclear power. The 4 reactors that the SSR is building should be complete in 3 years. SSR Flag: [hide][/hide] SSR Coat of Arms: [hide]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ac/Coat_of_arms_of_Romania_Eagle.svg[/hide] -- Talks continue with Hungary, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Moldova, and Montegro. And I'm the moderator. This is an alternate ego that I play as when I'm not the USA. There is no moderator.
  24. Then what did I get? "Do what up?" My economic standing. Gold reserve + foreign currency capital
