  1. No worries
  2. I have no control over that, 'tis random. That country is Kazakh. It's got a military of around 11,000 or so and is allied with the Ottomans. Terrain you can look up if you want, I think it's mostly steppes though. ----------- Also, if you guys want to stay up to date with the world's technological progress, you have to invest 1m in that field per budget. Any more than that will get it done slightly faster.
  3. Now, now, I'm sure we can sort all this naval muscle flexing with a nice little land battle, eh? :P Also, good to see Portugal & Great Britain united once more! haha --- Spain: Colonization successful. Annnnd of course

And thus the mystery of Earth's poor typing skills was solved.
  5. Sorry, added +5 frigates to Austria-Hungary, just keep in mind that as Rocco is almost correct, you have barely any coastline, and what you do have is in the Netherlands region.
  6. NAVIES +15 Two deckers to Great Britain +10 Two deckers to Portugal +10 Two deckers to Spain +5 Two deckers to France +5 Two deckers to the Netherlands +10 Frigates to the USA +5 Frigates to the Ottomans +5 Frigates to Italy +5 Frigates to Russia +5 Frigates to Poland +5 Frigates to Prussia +5 Frigates to Sweden +5 Frigates to Austria-Hungary (there is a disparity in the numbers because let's face it...Poland never attempted to challenge Great Britain for naval supremacy of the Atlantic ocean)
  7. Do you guys want to be given some naval ships as well, much like the starting armies? I was going to do it initially but forgot. Seems weird to have Britain piddling around with like 6 boats.
  8. I would've lol. Minor detail. Most people don't know that the Persian royalty declined, only that Portugal offered to help and then didn't.
  9. They're not dead weight. They're better than having no discernible leader to an army, but they just don't have anything that makes them special or unique in certain situations.
  10. I put a new world map on the front page that's up to date as far as I know. Take a look at it Rocco and tell me if you see any problem or something. General Mautner - Winter specialist General Rauch - General Vranitzky - Disciplinarian General Zweig - Offensive doctrine General Kronenberg - Admiral Abél - Admiral Csilla - Gunner's Mate Admiral Brigatta - Admiral Wichsberger - Admiral Williams - Offensive doctrine ------- WAR UPDATE - Persia vs Balochistan The Persian Army of Fars, under the leadership of General Ali Ismail crossed over the border into Balochistan on October 23rd, 1776 and was faced with an empty landscape. The Balocistani army was nowhere to be seen, and so General Ali ordered his army to advance to the port city of Pasni, and there lay siege to the town in an attempt to coerce the cowards to come attack him. He reached the town with little interruption. A few badly uniformed Baloci horseman were sighted, but were quickly driven off by a company of Persian dragoons. The Persians set out on an aggressive patrol of the countryside using most of their cavalry, searching for this lost enemy army, but they could not find it. They could not find it because it was not on land. The Balocistani General Arjak Muhammed had rightly assumed that the Persians would take the route south along the coast to attack into Balochistan, rather than risk their army by crossing the mountainous terrain that marked the northern border between the two countries. So General Arjak had withdrawn his troops and loaded them onto the Balochistan’s (admittedly) small navy. He landed off the coast of Pasni a month after the siege had begun, and hastily ordered his men to assemble, then advanced them forward. The Persians were caught entirely off guard, and were bereft of their cavalry which was riding in patrol groups in Balochistan’s inland territory search for the army that was assembled in front of Pasni, steadily moving towards the Persian line which had been hastily prepared. Without the Persian cavalry though, the Persian lines’ flanks were wide open, despite the fact that their infantry outnumbered the Balochistani’s. The artillery was unlimbered and crashed into their enemy’s lines, doing minimal damage as the men were spread out, but General Arjak ordered his cavalry to move forward, threaten the enemy line, but don’t charge unless an opening was presented. As predicted, the Persians, unable to respond to the move were forced into protective infantry squares while the Balochistani cavalry silenced the Persian gun crews with their lances. The battle wore on, but the winner had already been decided. The Persians could not move out of square for threat of the enemy cavalry, but to stay trapped within the square meant they were prime targets for the Balochistani infantry line and artillery. As the sun crept below the horizon, the Persians finally broke, sending the Balochistani cavalry charging after them with a shout of glee. By the end of the day, nearly the entire Persian army had been destroyed, and the only Persians that made it back to their homeland were the isolated scouting parties that trotted home on tired horses after hearing the news. Persia accepted peace soon afterwards, cedeing the province of Bandar Abbas to Balochistan. Persia blames Portugal for the defeat, saying that they lied and did not send troops to help like they said they would. ---- Hopefully this gives people a rough idea of what the battle reports will be like and what not to do (such as attacking enemy infantry line while your troops are still in square...make sure to have a mixed unit army, etc, etc)
  11. Yeppers
  12. Persia declines as well. -- Gotta go write another exam, but they were successful Grim. Also,
  13. Balochistan replies that it does not need European help, and cites the example of what is going on in India (ongoing conquest by European powers) as grounds for refusal.
  14. I actually had this done before you posted Rocco, lol
  15. Oh you pay 10% of what you paid, so 90K.
  16. No and yes
  17. Yep, same as infantry - 10% of their initial cost. Naval engagements are pretty rare though. The Tuzers are fine, since they're just cheaper versions of line infantry. I won't add them to the front page though since they're one of your unique units and the front page is for units anyone can recruit. You're buying 7770 more line infantry? And 1m in generals/admirals? Don't you have um...no money? Ahhh I see, you're changing the Tuzers to line infantry. Okay. You get 7700 less though... And after this you can't just change troops into different things on a whim. Edel, all the armies in that second post have been there from the start. I've edited the post once, and that was to put them all in a hide window.
  18. They did and it's on the map. I just forgot to change it to the new purple colour.
  19. It's an interesting question because we had this discussion in a philosophy class at one point. Question is, is your 'soul' a physical thing or not? If you believe it is then where is it located? Because if you remove someone's appendix they don't suddenly lose all sense of morality and consciousness. Tbh, it's one of those subjects that you can't really get too in depth into without darting off into the realm of the metaphysical, since souls aren't something that can be accurately pinpointed, and there's no actual physical evidence of their existence. Personally, I don't think we have souls, but we do have a sort of rough moral compass located somewhere within the depths of our brain that can be influenced by our environment and past experiences.

    Unless you are Grim.
  21. The natives were gone by the time they marched all the way from Canada to the American midwest in the middle of winter... (normally colonies have colonial militias that are drawn from the able bodied men there, but since this was a new colony this one did not - these militias are drawn automatically so you don't need to tell me you're raising them btw) Yep, there's also a spot of nastiness in store for anyone that tries to push too far into the Amazon rainforests. And for anyone curious about the native tribes in North America: [hide][/hide]
  22. No. It's on the front page though, so you can see which two did. They feel it is acceptable for now. They then ask how they may exploit the natives in Alaska. Sorry, can you repost that message about California? I can't find it. Technically it's Russian soil now :P Both colonization trips succeeded, however... General _________ General _________ (Cavalry commander) General _________ Admiral _________ Admiral _________ Admiral _________ (Defensive doctrine)
  23. There are grumblings from the bourgeoisie and noble classes, but until these new reforms become more widespread they won't do anything but voice their rejection of these new policies. ---- There are rumours that the Dutch are attempting to expand the Dutch Water Line. --- And Rocco you get: General ________ (no trait) ---- Oh, and we'll be doing the 6 day budget reset. So, 2nd of July is next reset
  24. Don't worry 'bout it Rocco. With the Polish government's announcement of the ratification of parts of the treaty, the peasant rebellion in Lublin disperses and returns to their farms. A small group of diehards still rioted in Krakow, but the local police and garrison units dispersed them without very much trouble. Overall, very good handling of the situation :) House rules of 5 provinces per war. 10 if the person has 100+ provinces. Though you don't need to follow the house rules. Generally its just to protect people from the waves of crazy nationalists/patriots. I never said they'd change. I said I'd think about it. And no, the HRE states won't give you soldiers to go fight Portugal over a defaulted loan. I told you, they'll give you soldiers in the HRE itself is threatened, but pretty much for nothing else. From random events yea. Otherwise it just gets overly complicated and nobody really follows it anyways. No, it's more of a strategic piece of land. Even in YOH I had both sides of the strait so I just closed them in order to provoke people into attacking me. You can shoot cannons at ships crossing though. ---- Updated the map for the new colonies. Spain - all three succeeded (the natives were fairly appreciative of your trinkets) Portugal - both succeeded Russia - two succeeded, one failed
