May 20th: New Slayer Monster Information.
If you just wish for something that you can use as training, why not introduce a level 95 monster, that doubles Slayer xp when you kill it on a task - but has no unique drops, or any drops above 20k gp. Would you be willing to have such a monster? I notice how some people even say that they would like a level 87 monster - but Dark Beasts already exist at 90! So is isn't solely to have a milestone, is it?

But your rate still doesn't depend on your Slayer level at all, so why should it be appropriate to base the rewards off of the levels instead of the xp? The xp shows the accurate representation of the work you put in, not your levels. Yes, but then the rewards would have to be linear as well. Since the Level curve is exponential, the rewards at higher levels are allowed to be that much better than the prior ones. Compare Rune boots and Whips - 50k vs 1.5M, even today. If they were actually based on XP, then either Rune Boots would have to be worth much more ore Whips would have to be worth much less. The point is, levels are placed on an exponential chart for a reason. You should not have to put in the same amount of work to get to levels 1-50 as you would from 50-99. So neither should the distance between the two be equal. And I'm not against adding level 91+ Slayer monsters. I'm opposed to the mentality that EVERY monster added should be that level.

Yes, but there would be a lot less. How many 95 Slayers were there back when they were released? Slayer xp rate stays about the same the whole way to 99 though. I would understand if we were talking about skills that get easier at higher levels, but this is Slayer. True. But if Black Masks were so rare, they would never have released Slayer Helmets. Slayer XP rate goes up as you advance. Why? Because your combat skills go up as well. Unless you were maxed when starting to train it, but that's obviously not the intent of Slayer.

If that made Black Masks rare and expensive then I think it would be a pretty good update. But it wouldn't. All the level 90-95 would camp with Wild Pies, and the 90s would camp as well. Eventually it would reach the current price just the same.

We're talking about the levels here, not the quality of the update. There is no reason why there should be so many monsters in a 2 mil xp span and then practically nothing for 10 mil xp. Actually, what (most) people are saying is that if it's a low level, it will be a bad update. I was saying an update that was a "low" level to most (83), but was still a great update. Personally, I'd rather they release content that actually suits the higher level than just randomly slap on a 95 level on something that doesn't deserve it. If Cave Horrors were released at level 95 Slayer, would you have liked them all that much more? Or if you name any slayer monster, and added a 95 sticker on it, would it be that much better to you?

Spiritual Mages were below Abyssal Demons and are widely considered the best Slayer monster released since the beginning.

May 20th: New Slayer Monster Information.
The last magic Slayer monster we got was Spiritual Mages, at level 83. They dropped the best Slayer Armor. Now, this one is being added to the slayer caves. The caves and the tower typically had different monsters, but they always increased their drop value as you went further. These are going to replace Kurask as the "bosses" of that slayer dungeon. So hopefully, just like Abyssals are the "boss" of the tower, they'll have something really good. =D

D mace is alot better than dds for pking yes?
OT:OMG you post on Tip it? Anyway, the whole "crush/slash" thing is EXTREMELY overrated except against three MONSTERS. Metal Dragons are weak to stab, the CB is very weak to stab, and Waterfiends are weak to crush. Against players and everything else, what style you use makes very little difference. Gargoyles are weak to Crush as well.

1000 Abyssal Kills
3 Whips for 1k demons is actually a bit better than the drop rate, which is 1/450. And I didn't do any clues, and the tracker doesn't let me keep track of charms. It was about 250 crimsons, though.

1000 Abyssal Kills
Thanks all for the comments! I only found this tracker halfway though 85, so these aren't all my kills since 85. I've had a total of 6 whip drops so far. I'm going to be logging all my Abyssal kills, but I'm also logging Gargoyle kills, just to prove that they're worth killing. Once I have 1000 or more of those, I'll post those. And as a shameless plug, the drop tracker is found at http://abstract.cs.washington.edu/~tlin/drops/drops.pl. It has a bit of a learning curve, but nothing that takes more than a few minutes to get used to!

What Defines a "Boss Monster"?
Just a note, the King Black Dragon never had a unique drop until the Heads were introduced. Dragon Mediums were always dropped by Black Demons, Black Dragons, and Fire Giants as well as the KBD.

How fast can you reach a million?
Kicking is slooow. :P
-
How fast can you reach a million?
With no armor/weapon?
-
How fast can you reach a million?
You'd be surprised how hard it is to make a million from scratch. Good luck cutting Magics with a Bronze axe or mining Rune with a bronze pick.
-
How fast can you reach a million?
But can you do it while mining the essence? Or can you make enough money for the essence you need?
-
How fast can you reach a million?
Neither a clue nor a monster. It was a skilling activity that's repeatable.
-
How fast can you reach a million?
If I give it away, then it would ruin the whole people trying to think up creative ways to do it. Let's just say it involved some luck. ;)

How fast can you reach a million?
Just as a comparison, I managed to do this challenge in 1 hour, 3 minutes without having a high mining level.

How fast can you reach a million?
To everyone that's saying I copied off the other thread, the original thread that this is based on is here. You can say that the other thread copied that one if you want. The goal of this is to find all the weird skill-based ways that people know to do this. Mining is a big one, and Hunter is the one I used to beat this challenge.
-
How fast can you reach a million?
The main difference is letting you use your bank and the GE.

How fast can you reach a million?
Many are bored with this game forever, and the challenges thread provides many interesting ideas. However, I've seen this challenge posed on another community, and I would like to see how you all take it! It's honor-based, so remember. The goal is to start with zero items, and to try to reach 1M gp as fast as possible. You are allowed to bank items, but you are not allowed to withdraw anything that was not placed after starting the goal. You are also not allowed to use any tools you did not obtain after starting the challenge. You are however allowed to use all your skills! An example of doing this would be going to Rimmington, taking the bronze pick, and mining gold until you reach 1M gp. Obviously, this is not the fastest way. So, does anyone want to participate?

Something to Ponder On
Replace Essence with the Nature Rune Chests. I know I spent hours there, selling Natures at 500 gp each to those who did alch things. We're talking about how the majority of money got into the game - it doesn't really change my point at all to replace magic longs with yew shorts or maples, et cetera. In the beginning, most people sold things to the general stores and such - now, it's not so common.
-
Something to Ponder On
Most natures aren't bought in stores. Basically, here's a typical way to add a completely new 1k gp to the economy: Mine Rune Essence -> Cut Magic Tree -> Pick Flax -> Craft Nature and 5 fires -> Cut Magic Long -> Spin Flax -> String Long -> Alch Long Obviously, the same person doesn't do all these steps usually, but this would give a brand new 1k to the economy.
