  1. How is the start of summer holidys going to affect the lower rares?

If it takes after previous years we will most likely see a large crash in rares and items such as potions, food, godswords and other useful items will rise sharply in price.

I doubt rares will crash, even with the usual summer speculations. I'd say the buyout is too strong for that to happen. It's a totally different situation on the rare market now compared to last year. The summer rise and crash are for the most part based on speculations, which of course can impact the rares, but like I said, I doubt they will.

As for the current state of santas, they are going for 2 crowns minimum on the forums.

  2. The fight between DFS and Rune Defender depends on what style your looking for. If you want offensive bonuses, go for the Defender. For defensive bonuses, use the DFS.

Why argue that one is better than the other when they are used for different scenarios?

Because it's a thread about slayer and there aren't any scenarios in which you'll need the defence boost over the defender.

And Mecakoto, this thread is probably still alive because a TIF miracle occured and a decent discussion sprouted.

  3. Thanks :)

And Wergs still have some time left, but very little, so I wouldn't get them if you plan on keeping them for a few days/weeks, but if you're using them for trades on a daily basis they are still viable I guess.

EDIT: Santa's just updated again, this is like the 5th updat in a row. Does anyone think they're going to be bought out more and are safe from big crashes, aside from the 1 or 2 day dips?

  4. The thing I liked about Rs when I started playing was the massive multiplayer part. You're essentially playing together with so many players that it was like a world of its own. The thing that kept me playing was probably the competitive part: I made some friends and we started training skills so we would top eachother in the highscores.

    Good times

  5. Grand Exchange in my suggestion i called it the stock house, believe it or not, i was sick of going on the forums to buy bulk, i suggested it and about half a year later bam, not exactly what i expected because i didnt get any mail saying hey we like ur idea.... i also made it to lower spam rate in trade channels and scamming, for get it now set prices for everything. alot of people say RIGHT but i dont care if they dont believe me

I don't think people won't believe that you suggested it, it's just that you were just one of the probably thousands of players to suggest it. I highly doubt you were the first and the one they listende to, because:

    1. They implemented it mostly for other reasons than you stated, and

    2. Because it would probably take a lot longer than half a year to create something as complex as the GE and implement it.

  6. New item should be compost potion.

I think this is a good idea, but it depends on how hard it is to acquire them. I wouldn't know since I've never played vinesweeper and don't know how many points you can get per hour.

I wouldn't mind though. If they will become the new currency there will be coming a lot more of those into the game and even if they don't have any street value, they are great to have. I always keep a few of them in my bank, because they can make instant supercompost in bins if you combine them with the compost mound.

As for torstol pots; the fact that they don't have a use doesn't really matter. It's more important that there is no supply of them. At least, I don't think people will make torstol pots (unf) just to sell them on the GE and lose 25k a pot. As long as the supply is close to none, the can be bought out easily and be given a use (the price rise). Remember that mint cakes were the currency for a long time, and those had even less use than torstol pots.

  7. I agree with Akimos, even the mid-level potions like ranged and super attacks are worth making over serums because of the speed. However, the difference in speed between the mid/high lvl potions isn't all that big, so from there i'd go with the potoin which requires the least amount of GP/Xp.

  8.

If you are aiming for durable slaying:

Your first priority would be either Extremes/Super antifires and/or 95 prayer!

    Herblore:

These enable quicker tasks, easier time on dragons (all metal + black dragons)

Also on every task, combined with the berserker curse, extremes are an absolute win. Unlock curses + 71 prayer minimal.

80 prayer doesn't really add much, if you are aiming for something aim higher. If you have the money (even after the herblore)

A minimal of 71 prayer is a must. But if you have the cash for only prayer or only for herblore. Aim for 71 prayer with curses and extremes.

Otherwise, definitly 95 prayer with extremes

    _____________

Secondairy to all is the bandos / 99 range / claws. Bandos is highly overrated (is is marginally best but costs millions upon millions extra) and claws aren't THAT useful. A single spec in a case where Enhanced Excalibur / GS' does the job just as well or better. A DFS is overrated and generaly useful. Especially if you managed to unlock super antifires. 99 range is (in my opinion) a waste as 99% of the slayer tasks can and should be meleed.

    ____________

    So short:

    71 prayer + Extremes

    95 prayer + Overloads

    Claws

    99 ranged

    Bandos / DFS / ...

Well, extremes/overload are uneffected by the berserker curse.

In my opinion go for the prayer, then herblore, claws, ranged, etc

Sorry for just jumping in the thread, but can anyone confirm that extremes are unaffected by the berserker curse? Never heard of this.

  9. What will be the new small currency now that wergalis are doomed? Torstol potions? Zam brews?

It will probably be an item along those lines with little to no supply. The difference with Wergali's however is that the wergali potions actually had a lot of natural demand and these pots don't. But as seen with mint cakes; as long as the market picks them up they can go a long way.

Torstol potions are a viable possibility if there aren't any better items at hand.

  10. 39.8 XP/hr :) Better than I thought. I don't hang around that much though, if I want to chat with friends I use the private chat/CC and if I have to hang around at the GE for some reason I usually fletch some logs or make some pots that are still in my bank.

  11. It's in the troll marketplace, next to the sleeping troll. You can get there by going from burthorpe to the troll stronghold.

Drawn you a (crappy) map of the route ;) The yellow bit is a cave and you'll need climbing boots to get there. I'm not sure if you need to start a quest for it though.

  12. To those flamming me, thanks....

Although there was some defence from Omali (i may be 17, but i'm not some stupid kid-.-), he made the point i was trying to make. Sure the artwork is lovely. I realise that, i even stated that the splash screen looks better.

It's the title it's given "Dungeons of Deamonheim". That's not runescape, i play Runescape: 24 other skills and over 160 quests with hundreads of locations to explore. It's more than just a large dungeon.

I like the examples Omali gave. Those other MMORPG's aren't given a special title because of an expansion. Sure they have that name, but that's for commercial purpose (similar to what jagex is doing) to sell the disk. After that inital sale, the game is still called World of Warcraft. People play that. They have the added bonus of The Lith King, or w/e is inside it, but it's not the entire game. JUST like how deamonheim is not the entirety of runescape.

    #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

He was clearly contradicting everything you said and you're claiming he actually defended you? Starting to wonder if you're really 17.

  13. The quote you posted is nice, but doesn't mean they see it as a problem. They have also stated that in an MMO as big as runescape, with maybe millions of players, things are bound to get uses they didn't have intentionally and that they are fine with it, because that's how this game works. You can't take that quote you posted and go claiming that there is a problem.

Also, the suggestion of introducing of items that can be bought to represent a certain value seems pointless to me. Why invest your money in these items, which will always have the same GE value, when you can invest it in other items. The items don't even have to be rares, but can be high end items such as Spirit Shields.

I'm fairly certain that when your suggestions would be implemented, items such as spirit shields and 3rd age will be hoarded even more than they are now because people will invest in these items, and not in some ticket worth a set amount of money.

On a side note; I don't see a problem with rares. The overpriced rare martket is used to stabilize the underpriced junk market. If the GE would work properly and every item would have the worth it should have, rares wouldn't even be able to be above the GE price. So IMO Jagex should focus on the GE, and not on the rares.

  14. Another reason, besides the cheaper aspect, is that PK'ers these days are used to so much more than back then in terms of equipment and other items. If you're a newer player I can imagine that after watching someone PK with D bolts, VLS or AGS, the older videos of where people were simply using D scim and wait for the KO with a G Maul can seem quite boring, especially if you didn't play back then and don't know how it went down.

I have to admit, if I look at new trybrid PK videos I enjoy them more then old school PK videos. However, I don't watch them that often as I never really PK and aren't that interested in it.
