I don't think they degrade. Like with rune guantlets they only "degrade" if you die with them, or pk them. Then you have to get them recharged by the guy at fog. They also need to be degraded to be able to be traded

Last time I was mining, at 41 I used a rune pic and I didn't one hit iron like 10 times out of 200 iron

In most spots theres maybe one other hill giant near you that can attack you, and when you loot, it should only get in one hit on you.
