SanFranciscoGiants
Well in class we have to write a story about the civil war in diary form and can only detail one battle. I have no idea where to start or what to put in it. Any ideas? (It has to be 1000-3000 words long) If this is in the wrong forum could a mod please move it? rocketman089
If you're going to pick any anything, pick Gettysberg (i had to read and do a report on Killer Angels for my senior paper, fantastic book on the battle). Bloodmourn
You could look up some battles on eyewitnesstohistory.com and actually get a good idea of how they wrote back then, and what it was really like to be in the situation. I'm not sure what your instructor is expecting, but you might get extra credit for writing the journal sort of in-character to someone that would have actually lived in that time, using terms and speech that would have been heard during the Civil War. misterxman
Go to a library and look up books talking about battles of that war, I'm sure they'll have lots of details you could use. Just make sure you cite your sources too. Pixel sigs by me.Pixel Art

Flametrooper
Do Gettysburg, as has been said. I just finished a report on it myself, and there's a LOT of information out there, it's a cool battle, very famous, very big, very bloody, very important. I would just start by describing why it happened, then go straight into an account of the first day of battle - the Gettysburg Address might make a good intro.
