dark_counda
Well, this one was mostly an experiment to play around with atmosphere and clouds a little. I noticed there's a little too much fog, and the sun is still a little too bright (for those who remember the last one ). There's also a little black spot in the bottom left, but since I'm using it as my desktop BG I just put an icon over it :) Total rendering time: 1h 49m. My next one will be with the sun perpendicular to the camera, of a snowy mountain. I'll probly do it sometime this weekend, after decorating for the holidays (a little inspiration :P). Feel free to use this as your desktop background, just don't try and rip it for anything  CC welcome, and please rate /10 :) [Here's my previous work, please don't bump up the topic :): http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=125983&highlight=
Nadril
1st off, i can say i like the peacefull atmosphere in it. I realy like the suns position as well. However, thats where the liking stops. The texture for one is preaty plain. Its just some white with dabs of green on it. The transition to the water from land also isn't the best (unless you were going for over warming, ect. Also, the camera angle, while not that bad, The landscape doesn't look like its a landscape, but just a little tabletop one. It doesn't realy stretch out and is kind of 2d in a way almost. The water is preaty nice , but not that hard to do. Also, fix the black spot you have down there from the render. Terragen has a nasty habit of doing stuff like that, and it needs to be fixed. Sorry if i sounded harsh, just getting my point across :P
dark_counda
Thanks Nadril, the atmosphere/clouds were my focus on this project as I said :) I kinda rushed everything else, just because I have a history exam tomorrow. Thanks for the CC, that's most likely what I'll be working on next time :) For the black spot - since I'm using it as a BG, I just stuck an icon on top of it :P

dark_counda
Umm, usually people make Terragens in Terragen, I don't think there's any other way :P http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/ ^Terragen download.
Nadril
wot sogtware is best for terragon and sigs? lol, that kinda made me laugh :P And for sigs, i would recomend getting Photoshop7 or Cs (http://www.adobe.com) Or Psp8 or 9 or 7 (forgot website) Also, you can make terrains in worldmachine for terragen. (http://www.worldmachine.com) Its what i use, and its very powerful, more so than terragen's terrain builder. You can make terraces, and all kinda good stuff :)
Peter
Sorry, don't like it. First of all, no Terragens are all that excellent. If done right, however, they can provide a level of realism that others can't. Yours is one of those without that realism factor. First off, that black dot. I don't really care about it, but it's just there. Next, the water doesn't look nice. It shouldn't have so many uniform ripples. The biggest peeve I've got, is the texture on the land is horrible. In the parts that you can see, it's just kind of a grey/white texture, not all that good. The sunlight/sky isn't the worst, but needs improvement. Think about it. In your image, the sun is clearly shown, not obstructed by any mountains. With no fog or any other obstructions, the whole scene should be a whole lot brighter. If you put the mountains over the sun a bit, making it so that only the last bit of light is coming out, then I could understand why the scene is so dark. The clouds are pretty good, and non-offensive. They could however be a bit more defined, since afterall that's what you were experimenting with in the first place. Last, don't know if you care at all, but if you plan on using as a long-term desktop, it should have a bit of finishing in Photoshop or something. :) EDIT: If you are short on time, don't do a poor job and do it fast. Do a good job, complete it over a couple of days if need be, and it will look better.
