Mining Gems

Featured Replies

Somewhere I read that Members can mine gems, where is it that you can do this? Thanks

In Shilo Village, only accessable after completing Shilo Village Quest.

The gem rocks mostly give you 'Shilo Gems' which are Jade, Red Topaz and Opal. These are pretty much worthless gems except for cutting them and making them into bolt tips for crafting exp. The gems also have a higher chance than normal rocks to give you gems like Sapphires, Emeralds, etc.

I wanna comment on the "worthless" aspect of those gems....

But, with the prospect of new jewelry coming out, though I don't know how this will work for enchanting them....

There "could" be more use for those "worthless" gems soon.

A man who doesn't read, is no smarter than a man who can't read.

I guess worthless is a bit more negative than I intended.

The gems are also a great way of getting trading sticks too.

If you wear a charged glory durring this you can get a huge amount of "regular" gems, especially if you have a chisle with you and just make the shilo gems into bolt tips. Good mining XP as well, they are fast to mine and give good xp, compared to how long it takes to get a gold ore for example.

There are also some gem rocks in the mine at lunar island. Running through lvl111 Suquahs is not a fun thing to do...
