Is this whole 'repacing files' and changing directries dangerous for the whole computer? (and files, could my computer crash?) I don't think you have to change any files on the computer itself, but a lot on the ipod. Or atleast I don't remember creating any files on my computer when I did it (except for the files to put on the ipod of course), but that was a long time ago. If you do infact mess the ipod up you can restore it with Apple's ipod restore utility. You will lose all your songs on the ipod but that shouldn't be a problem if they are stored in Itunes.

May 30, 200719 yr He wont destroy it, you can dual boot linux and the ipod operating system. If something does go wrong 95% of the time the apple restore utility can fix it.
