I got my att, str, def and HP skill to lvl 99 before the skill capes were released. Obviously, you hit harder at lvl 99 (and with super pots) than you would at lvl 96, 97 or 98. That was my main reason for getting them to 99.

 

 

 

I don't believe getting level 99s in fishing, woodcutting, cooking, fletching, crafting, etc would makes a big difference when doing these skills as compared to having level 96, 97 or 98.

I got 99 Fletching before the capes (something like 1 year ago) and the only reason why I got it because there wasn't many people with 99 skills back then. 99 Fletching was an achievement unlike today where only reason why people go after a skill is to get the cape.

 

 

 

Then I got 99 Cooking a few weeks after the capes came out because I don't have a fire cape and the next best thing is a trimmed skill cape. Plus it was easy total levels.

 

 

 

Well my ex crafting goal was for the cape, furies, and total levels. That's all I wanted it.

Same reasons I'm getting 99 cooking. Plus the little yellow trim on my fm cape. :P

it's for the cape nowadays, whether they like the skill or not.

 

my opinion: any 99s i'd go for would be for love of the skill, even farming (planned for 2009), and most skills i dislike are lower (except mining)

 

it's more fun if you play for fun

I got 99 hunter because I liked the skill and it wasn't boring (ok, yes it was :wall:) but it was my favorite skill. I got 99 cooking just to trim my cape. I do believe some people just get a cape to show it off, not becuase they like the skill.

I myself don't have a 99 skill. If I ever get one, I wouldn't get it just to have a cape. I would get it to show that I worked hard and honestly, collecting most of my own materials. Chances are, since I'm such a low-spender anyhow, I won't pay 100k for a cape, when I could have a cape that is only 750gp (Legend's Cape, if I do the quest lol). That's my spiel!
