Rune defender: Fair defense, nice strength bonus, nice attack bonuses. Obsidian shield: 300K, quick to obtain. Rune defender: free, takes awhile to obtain. Take your pick. A granite shield? The same in all defensive areas but without the strength bonus. Not only that, its a third of the cost of an Obsidian Shield! Go get a rune defender, the Warriors Guild is very fun and gives good experience for your combat skills. If you're looking for defense get a rune kite or granite shield. Plus, it's not to hard for everybody else to make the comparision themselves. I suppose it all boils down to what you need. Personally, I prefer getting equipment that I can quickly and easily replace in the event of an untimely disconnection that can potentially cause character death. Plus, it's good to have equipment that's suitable for most combat situations.
