Have any of you played Star Wars Tie Fighter? Its an old game- over ten years old and originaly on Floppy Disk.

although it was 12 years it gets a good review from me, and I found it highly addictive as well as well concived and put togeather.

What I would like to know is how many of you besides me have played it, did you like it? If not why? if you did why? and do you think its about time They Made a Tie Fighter 2.0?

the only problem I had was the lack of a joystick with which to play... sufficed to say My arm got a good workout useing the mouse. and at times the missions get downright Impossible, how Im supposed to save the Empire out numberd and Out gunned ten to one Ill never figure out. luckely the games got a Invincibility mode, although it will deduct your score in missions for it and make you less likely of gaining rank and a higher possistion within the Emperor's Circle.

I played on Tie Fighter. I remember it being a slightly better version of X-Wing. I couldn't get very far though as my PC wasn't good enough. X-Wing owned though, awesome story line and awesome gameplay. I loved it.

WOOW, this brings back memories! :D Hell yeah I played this game, I absolutely loved it.

My dad bought it in the states, which was so cool (yeah I was young too).

I remember it installing with lots of floppies <3: I destroyed 3 joysticks in all the years I played this game on the old P1 100mhz computer.

Typically a game that can be played over and over again. They don't make much games anymore that are actually replayable (imo) And the sounds when firing your weapons on the gunship you were flying... really oldskool.

I think I had 3 versions of the game... Tie Fighter, X-wing vs. Tie Fighter and X-wing. Allthough I could be a bit off.

I believe a few years ago I found the floppies again and tried to install them again, but it didn't work :(

Perhaps I should find the somewhere on the net *cough* and play them through Dosbox.. allthough I don't have a joystick atm. But this game is worth buying a joystick for..

Thanks for making this topic, brought up so many great memories :D

I actually haven't tried it on DOSbox yet. The last time I played it I had a small partition on a secondary hard drive with DOS 6.0 (I think) installed on it. When I wanted to play a DOS game, I went into the BIOS and switched the boot order to the other hard drive. At least I think I did. I can't remember exactly. I have a bootable FreeDOS CD sitting here as well, maybe I used that.
