Darkbow Analysis for Training and Pking

Hello everyone,

I've owned a Dark Bow for two days now, and I felt like doing tests to see how it fared as a weapon :) Here are the results I got

Few notes before we start : I'm not biased in any ways in this. I have a pretty low slayer level, so I have no interest in increasing prices, but I already have one, so I don't really why I'd try to lower the price either :P

I took information mostly from my own testing, but I took bits here and there from forums, the official runescape site, and other player's experiences.

Speed : Dark Bows are rather slow weapons, but everytime they shoot, two arrows are fired. While they may appear exceedingly slow, they actually shoot 4 times while a Magic Short shoots 5 times. In other words, it's just a bit slower than a MSB.

Accuracy : A Dark Bow has +95 range attack bonus, compared to +59 for Magic Shorts, +84 for Karil's Crossbow, and +100 for a full Crystal Bow, while at its lowest charges, the Crystal Bow is just a bit less accurate than a Magic Short. A Dark Bow does not degrade.

Range : A Dark Bow has the range of a long bow, or a Crystal Bow, both having the same range.

Damage : A Dark Bow has damage comparable to any other bow with its given arrows. However it's the only bow able to use Dragon arrows. Furthermore, it's special increases the maximum possible damage of regular arrows by 30%, and Dragon arrows by 50%. As the Dark Bow also shoots two arrows on its special, it's two arrows with 30 or 50% percent damage increase, which allows for a recorded maximum hit of 39 x 2 with the special and Dragon arrows. In other words, so far the max hit seen is 78. Also, the special makes it so that your two arrows will certainly hit, no matter the armor. The special is a 55% percent drain, just like a magic short special.

Training : A Dark Bow is more accurate, but slower than a Magic Short, so how will it fare in training? Well, I did a little test, with steel arrows, 99 range (potted sometimes, sometimes not, but since I always alternated between MSB and Dark Bow, the results are not imbalanced), by writing how long it took me to kill a Black Dragon with both bows, without using the special, from the first hit to the last. Here are the results.

Thanks, and I hope my little study helped you learn more about the bow.

i think you should take time with crystal bow 10/10 and karils xbow to, i bet these bows can do it under minute, but then i need to use addy/rune arrows on the d bow and MSB to get the fair test.

and you should not use eny pots and things at all to get the right result :-k

combat lvl 119+5

str 99/99 , attack 99/99 , hp 99/99 , range 97/99

Hi,

Please use one of the many topics about the Dark Bow.

This looks like the best one to add your information to:

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?
