Goals And Achievements - There are just tomany pictures floating without pictures. New rule : only post topics with involve achievement pictures, otherwise locked, for me and possibly other players, it's just annoying to see a topic with '80 Fishing', and then just the text.

 

 

 

General P2P - General F2P - Board info says discussions. Topics like 'what item would you like to have in irl life' isn't a discussion, it's just a question. I'm not saying these sort of topics should get disbanned, just isn't ment to be in a board that's made for discussions.

Spammers, Attention Seekers, Keyloggers - These sorts of topics are often made, do not reply to the Spammer and Attention Seeker topics, report them, and leave them alone, in a Keylogger topic, post that it's a keylogger (if you're 100% sure) and report it.

Tip It Events - Yeah, the person who came up with this, it's a good idea, but the events are mainly for lower levels, we need events such as KQ Hunting, King Dagannoths, KBD Slaying <- (You can find guides for these on main site or in the 'Archive of Wisdom' board.

 

 

 

I really want to make Tip It populair again, this is why i'm posting those things. Sorry if you disagree but those are the things i feel like they need to be changed

New Ranks - This would be a good idea, for example Senior TipIt'er. Not only will this encourage better posts and discussions, it will also drag more people into this wonderfull community.

 

 

 

Forum Events - Discussion Of The Week, Achievement Of The Month, many forums have this and it woulnd be a bad case if we had this to.

I agree with a lot of your points - many of them are USER based changes though. And I have to say those will be harder to implement. Things like not encouraging spammers by responding to threads with comments like, "This is spam!" - in an ideal forum, people wouldn't do that. I'm not sure there is too much we can do to change users; stickies and announcements only do so much.

 

 

 

Goals/Achievements - I'd be for posting a sticky asking users to please include pictures (and a link to the picture help thread). I don't think a rule should be placed - we're trying to loosen up around here, not make people afraid to post.

 

 

 

Gen P2P/F2P - Just because a topic has a question in the title doesn't mean discussion cannot spark out of it. I've seen quite a few interesting responses to those types of threads/questions. Again, this is kind of discouraging discussion and thread creation. Unless a certain type of topic is dominating a board, I'd rather not outlaw it. Discussion appears in many different types of threads.

 

 

 

Screenshot - Again, people will only read stickies and announcements so much. ;) We recently added an easy image hosting system but people like to rush through things. They can't be bothered to do the proper investigating and want things to be handed to them on a silver platter. IMO, this is part of the package when you deal with a younger community - just something you have to deal with.

 

 

 

Tip.it Events - Again, this is sort of up to the users. If you have any ideas about board placement.. please post. I feel the current placement and purpose of the events board has somewhat diminished since its creation.

On the subject of Tip.It events, I believe that it is a miracle that they are pulled off in the first place. Tip.It events usually have loads of people, and trying to coordinate all of those people to do a task requiring thought, would be all but feasible. The events weren't really about rewards and hard tasks, but about a bit of community fun. I'll admit, it would be fun to have something a bit more toned to higher level players, but still, planning those seems tough enough at this point, anyway.

I think not allowing people to post pictures will cripple people who don't know how to post pictures, or those who are on a very slow internet connection.

Tip it is popular, but only with the lower levels, you don't see alot of 126s on tip it, the max you'll see is 10 maybe 15.

Zot don't most level 126's generally not hang around on most large forums like these but rather on their clan forums instead or if not IRC chat? I don't think that their are too many more 120+ on other big named forums such as Runehq, Zybez etc than on tip.it. Or am I wrong?

 

 

 

Though there's still no reason to not attract higher end players to these forums by having more higher level orientated events, though that requires someone like you (being a high level) to organise the event considering theirs no others like you in the events team at the moment, so thats where the problem begins.

 

 

 

Though still, the way in which Runescape has been heading for the last couple of years it would be an incredibly hard task attracting high end level players to a large public community such as this. The "General Boards" in my opinion compare to an extension to World 1 West Varrock Bank sometimes. I don't think I need to throw in any adjectives there for you to get my point. :wink:

I think it isnt a matter of attracting them, its retaining them. When i first joined TIF there were alot of legends of the game that used to post here. With those people i believe that Tip.it used to have a great community. But as time has gone by, those names have left resulting in the 'lack of high' levels. Although I still believe that we have a better community than other fansites, i reckon the loss os some senior members have dulled the community.

We can add the same rule as we added to the Graveyard a few months ago: No picture, no proof.

 

 

 

This sure would be more fun to look at that Board. Ofcourse, cropped...

 

 

 

New ranks would be nice aswell, we have just got one for 10,000.

 

But it would be fun to have something a bit more special.

 

 

 

But to General and General P2P, it's pretty good how it is now.

 

It would be a lot worse if we had the 'What if' or 'What's your favorite' still floating around.

 

 

 

And in General or General P2P, not everything is for discussion, but that's not 100% what's it's all about. It's more about talking about something.

 

 

 

If you check the Hot Topics, they are all the ones to talk about something, discussions stop at one time.

I can sort of agree on some parts of rate this, but maybe there should be some exceptions (for example if there were two thing they wanted rated, and they have a pic for one, but not the other, the topic isn't locked)

I think atleast 150+ people would likely come, and you could kill the kq in like 5 seconds.

 

 

 

And if you want to suggest a tet/tetau/ctet event, there is a post for that in their respective board.

They probably would, and should be. Some kind of auto turn into this rank from this one, isn't acceptable. If you did that, undeserving users would be promoted. These 'special' ranks should be hand-picked only, by admins, and mods.

 

 

 

If not, a group, that has exp in promoting users would change them, or give their names off to the admins/mods who would then debate on who and who gets changed. Then almighty albosky works his magic. Also only a limit of 0-5 should be changed per month... and that means 5 may not be chosen, 0 may be chosen to be promoted as well.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. If it isn't made by those and other certain traits, the senior tip.it member and other ranks do signify and represent the admins/mods, and staff of tip it, if a immature poster were to be promoted by somehow, that image would be expressed, and a great disappointment would go into effect. So if its impossible to create ranks by hand picked, I suggest not doing it at all.
