axe i love the look of the char. in your current sig.

lol, Funny thing is i made no pectorals beacuse before i made the finaly version i made one wearing no shirt and i made big mucles on that one then i thought i over did it so i took them out entirely. i guess i should put them in but just lightly i will fix that, other than that i think my shading is quite good and so do other people....but that is why we have more than one judge and your not even one of them! :D I have to say though i did try a new style of shading this time so maby thats why

EDIT: you hire me pah... u make me sound like the lowest of the low at a 7-11 store a "Trainie" dam you.... :(

Axe's Character

Smoothness:

7/10 : Pretty good, knees too big, shoes look weird.

Shading:

8/10 : I like it, but too dark on shoulders.

Character:

5/5 : Ez points...it's a warrior...wild guess.

Overall Opinion: Looks good, but I'm not a big fan of that kind of hair/eyes (I know it's your style).

and no.... that is how i shade no auto shade program used..... :D

and no.... that is how i shade no auto shade program used..... :D

Ummmm... you spelt character wrong. :D

Axeraider's char looks a bit silly. The legs are baggy, the edges on them are rough and square-like, the shield is facing away from him (how does that protect?), his boots... oh my. The shoulder blades go flying off and the hair has no "volume" to it (is that teh right word?), it just looks like its there and there's no [bleep]yness to it, its just like he's flat on the ground. Lacks shading. And the knees? Oh my. He's looking straight forward but his knees are on the sides of his legs. That's scary. He should get that looked at asap.

Sorry if I'm rough, but it looks like a character that would be in the 30 min speedpainting contest. ;)

~ Excuse me if that was negative. Trying to help.

what you think about mine?

yes kenny i remember you.

Kennys character:

Smoothness: are the lines fuzzy or crooked in the wrong places?

8/10 the lines are not cleaned to well and some are to straight.

Shading: was the shading proper in all the right places?

5/10 there has been putten effort in the shading but pitty it doesnt show any shape, its flat, shading should not only show the lightsource but it should on top of all show the shape, your halway there

Charechter: can you tell what it is?

3/5 the character is good you got some pretty good stuff in it the arms for example but the heads a bit creapy and the the connection of heart shirt isn't there, and hands could use some work ( why are his knees so high?) you cant see the left one is a pixeler if thats what it is, but you can see the right one is a evil warrior

Overall Opinion: what do you think of it?

i think its nice you got skill but your not there yet a little more practice might help, hand drawing helps allot

Axe:

Smoothness: The line work seems controlled but there are parts that really need to be fixed, such as the dent at the right hip. The legs seem a bit deformed. There is also a rounded head but that's your style, everything else has nice linework. 7/10

Shading: While the shading does make the character seem 3D, it narrows into thin lines of lightness, where there should be more areas of ligthness than just a line. This is important because the character's armor shading makes it look pyramidical or conical with a thin top righter than a rounded flat top. It is missing in some parts such as the feet and hands where there is little contrast of lightness and darkness. The shield seems to be rounded but since it's trim is supposed to be wood it's a bit too shiney to be shaded that way. The amulet also doesn't produce a cast shadow on the chest, but the ammy itself was done quite well.

8/10

Charechter: No doubt of what the pic shows. 5/5

Overall Opinion: The shading can be perfected, but it's on the right path. Just don't forget to shade everything else with contrast too. The linework made your character different from your other sigs which was a surprise, but you pulled it out pretty ok. The head is a bit disproportionally smaller compared to the rest of the body but not too bad.

Kenny:

Smoothness: The line art is good, more on the left character than on the right one because the shoulder pads on the right one seem a bit flat, the lines weren't completely cleaned (sorry I do the same, but this is a comp), and the head is a standard circle tool. 8/10

Shading: The shading on the left character just seems arbitrary with the left to right change of lightness, not much logic was used into considering the 3D form of the character and a real light source. The right character is much better at shading because one can see the roundness of all the parts of the body (the left arm on the right person is a bit off on shading). I think too many shades were used and they made some things shinier than they should be.

6/10

Charechter: No doubt of what the pic shows. 5/5

Overall Opinion: The linework is fine, just work into making your shading more logical and realistic, taking the 3D form into account.

Final comments:

Tough competition, hope you guys enjoyed playing in it. :) I think if Kenny made the line art, and Axe shaded the blank sigs, your colab work would really show the best of both sides. Good luck with sigmaking. :)
