Tip.it Mod/TET/Crew/Researcher/Admin/Jagex Avatar Resize

Featured Replies

With the avatars now able to go upto 100x100 pixels, I think it's time to change these special avatars that the Mods/TET members/Crew members/Researchers/Admins to 35x100 instead of the current 35x80. Some may not like a bigger avatar, so there could be a option to those people. I just think it looks kinda weird when the avatar is not al the same width.

I agree. It does look a little odd. But it won't hurt anyone. So in my honost opinion I couldn't care less.

Well the thing with that is that no matter what you change it to, it still won't be the same for everybody unless we all redid our avatars to coincide with the change. Not everyone's avatar is 100 pixels wide (mine's 80, for example, and I like it that way). I'm not sure who has the original staff image files, but unless we still have access to them, the avatars would have to be remade entirely, which is just a lot more unnecessary work :(

Agreed. It's a lot easier to crop or scale your own avatar to a width of 80 using any basic image program than it is to have all the staff's avatars redone, especially when you'll just create a problem where those who currently have avatars of 80 width will start looking funny.

afaik gws made the staff avatars and i have no idea if he has them anymore - probably not.

All of the staff avatars are automatically applied by the forum software. A change to the original is automatically applied to all the staff with that avatar, so it wouldn't be any major work to update all of them if it were done.

Just had to do this, thought it might be a good visual...

I just extended the purple color on the edges of the writing, quite easy.

Sorry for picking on you Jesse. :)

Don't fix it if it ain't broke. They work good right now, and heck the smaller size helps get them more noticed in my opinion.

I'm well aware of how Forum Class avatars work. I meant that, say I had 100x100 avatar, it would be easier for me to reduce that to 80x80 to fit with my staff avatar than for someone else to edit my Crew avatar to 100 width.

Yes, that one's easy, but as for the avatars that have actual images in them as backgrounds.. You'd have to remake them all together. You can't simply extend the edges because there's an image that you have to use, not just a solid colour background. And you can't stretch the image out, because it would look terrible :uhh:

And I agree entirely with what MXM said, "Don't fix it if it ain't broke." While it might be nice to make it so the avatars match better with the people who have avatars that are 100 pixels wide (which still isn't all of us), it's a lot more extra unnecessary work.

Most staff have 80x80 avatars already. Most new members to the forum will be glad to be able to have a larger avatar, but to us established members, it would just create unnecessary work for us to rematch our current avatars in size.

Thats why I said that.
