wealth ring..

it currently occurs to me that the ring of wealth is in the category of....... well being horribly bad... haha :-k and i was just wonderin' what's the need for it? it seems my luck is worse with it on.. i know this has been a hot topic for a while but i still want to know.... use it or don't? :-s

Why wont you? Jagex says it helps with rare items, so put it on. all drops are random, so its about math ... AND the wealth on your finger. And doesnt this belong in help & advice?

The way I see it, the ring of wealth DOES increase your chance of getting rare items, however it won't increase your chances of getting very rare items :P

 

 

 

I like to see it as 4 categories for items off of monster, common, uncommon, rare and very rare, and ring of wealth only boosts the chance of the items in the rare category sort of thing :)

 

 

 

For example, I'd consider a rune scimmy a rare drop from a Fire Giant, and Dragon Med a very rare drop. With a wealth on I get quite a few rune scimmy's, yet it doesnt affect d med's much, i've gotten 3 without a ring on, and 1 with a ring on.

With 200 tokens and a wealth my brother got the rune defender. With 200 tokens without the wealth I got a black defender.. I'm convinced it works :P

thnx guys...... but i think i'll just stick to no ring because it's like wearing a dead cat on my finger.. it's useless it scares people and when i throw it at someone they get disgusted and run away hahahahhahaha :ohnoes:

I personally gave up on it a while ago, I use Warrior/Berserker ring all the time now. Unless of course I'm killing a boss then it's either a Life ring or rarely a ring of wealth (Can't hurt)

It DOES work. Jagex have told us it does. Until you go and kill 50,000 monsters with it on and 50,000 without it you cannot possibly contradict what they have said.

 

 

 

The ROW gives you a slight increase in your chances of getting that monsters rare drop. It is not a guarantee you will get a rare drop for every few 100 of them you kill.

 

 

 

I'll give you an example (these are estimated figures:)

 

 

 

Chance of getting a chain from the KQ= 1/150

 

 

 

The ROW gives you a 20% better chance of getting the chain so that would be 1/120

 

 

 

Can you see how much of that still relies on luck? With or without the ring you could theoretically kill millions of KQ without a chain, or you could get a chain on every kill. It's all luck. Unless you kill tens of thousands of those you can't possibly say one way or the other.

 

 

 

There are some that say the benefit of the ROW does not outweigh the benefits of other rings, that is a legitimate argument. However you cannot say the ROW does not work. That is just factually wrong.

i've gotten over 100 dragon drops and about 99% was with wealth on

Of course, jagex lied to all of us just to make us waste the ring slot. They're currently all laughing in their office, thinking at how well they fooled us. Is that what you think?

ring of wealth works just like it should work. It doesn't increase the ammount of herbs or coins you get. For example if you don't use ring of wealth you only have 1/100 chance of getting dragon chain from kalphite queens, but if you use ring of wealth you have 1/90 chance. Of course these weren't the true drop rates...

that is pure luck since the wealth only helps getting drops which have value in general store (higher value more help from ring) and since you can't sell a defender to store its just lowers the drop rate of defenders...

it makes a huge difference for half keys, I did 1000 sharks at dust devils with RoW on, and I got 34 half keys. Then I bought a zerker ring with my spoils and did 1k more sharks at dusties, the second time I got 19 half keys.

 

 

 

I know that luck is a factor, but IMO that's beyond a coincidence.

Even though I have a berserker ring, I still prefer the wealth for many slayer tasks. I think it helps, on my last iron dragon trip I got about 6-7 rune limbs, two rune battleaxes, over 100 bloods, 50 rune javelins, 30 rune darts, 25 rune knives, etc. I think without the wealth, the drops would have been fewer. Not by much, but I think it makes a difference.
