GrimHams
I should be a mod, i was discussing it a few days ago, i'd bring forth a reign of tyranny against any wrong doers, if anyone spoke out of turn to me BAM! muted. Any rule breakers would fall at the might of me, i've always wondered why jagex hasn't made me a mod yet.
Zeddude
(Yes, I am a P-mod. If you want proof, PM me on these forums and I can message you in game to prove it.) So...why does everyone hate us P-mods?!?! Honestly. Why does everyone always remember their bad experiences with mods over the good ones? I'm sure a lot of the people who posted about a bad experience with a mod have had more good ones then bad ones, but for some reason (Jealousy? :| )decide to smear the reputations of every mod they can. This thread is as bad as U.S. politics. :? At the moment, there are over 6,000 mods. What are the chances that a good percentage of those mods are bad? Assume you meet 10 P-mods in the last month. Also assume there is a 10% chance that a P-mod will abuse their power or otherwise act badly. To spare math phobics' brains, I'll just tell you: Over 90%. Those people will probably post only their negative experience(s). So, if you've had a bad experience with a mod, would you want to share it on this thread? Probably. If you hadn't? Maybe a 50% chance. So, accounting for the P-mods posting on the thread, who will almost certainly post positive things, the chances that any individual person will post negative things about mods is still probably about 75-80%. So, people...don't judge mods by what's said on the thread, and also, with a P-mod's power, some abuse will probably happen. If it's a false mute or the mod is acting unmodly, report them to Jagex via a query and move on (after adding them to your ignore list.) Jagex can look at the mod's chat history and confirm your suspicions, and they could get warned or demodded. If a mod's being unmodly, don't rant about it here, take action. (Most of this last post is purely opinion. Please don't flame me.) I agree with you( as i am also a p mod, feel free to pm me ingame for proof) Most people hate us because they think we use our powers for fun when were trying to improve the rs community for reporting when fair and neccesary. Voldmort0
I, honestly, never liked Player mods. They have always prejudiced me, in the most unfair types of situations. Yet, no one likes to be reported or be told off. I think that if we all stop to see things from their point of view, we'll all realize that they're only trying to do what's best for the game, and not looking at every single detail when it comes to one single report, they do it objectively (which is understandable) while we, who get reported every so often, take it personally and make a big deal out of it (which is only normal, since we have only our reports to worry about). Not sure if I made myself clear, but that's what I think. Runescaper since June 2005Blog
Sly_Wizard
You can talk to me about P-Mods being 'helpful' and 'necessary' when they're actually required to-- You know-- Do the job they volunteered for.
forwardrob
The statistics above are pretty accurate, I've gotta say. And do P-Mods help? It depends what you want them to help with. If you want game advice, why not ask someone who's most experienced, regardless of whether or not they are a P-Mod? P-Mods are picked by Jagex on the basis of how accurate their reports are and how they conduct themselves. The wannabe mods who misreport are only making it less likely that they ever become one. And most P-Mods don't even expect to ever become one, they report because they see the injustices (well, in my experience at least.) If boredom makes the world go round, then I must be a huge dynamo. I am not sure what you mean by "prejudiced". sounds more like you are just having trouble following the rules and see it appropriate to break them on points you like to (i guess you get the idea i am "prejudiced" too, but it really seems like so for me), and don't forget that jmods still read the reports these pmods make, so you shouldn't have much to worry if they are false reports. Ran_Martin
no they don't help at all. yes i was bored, was looking some older pages for some.. Real discussions. found this topic from page 5. i think that the player mods just mute normal players, and don't go after the macros as they should..! most of the mods just use that as an advantage in world 2. GrimHams
The thing is, they dont have to help..so they generally don't. I know some player mods and they're mostly helpful, but i've seen people break rules next to them and they're scared to mute because if jagex see them as irresponsible with mutings they'll lose the crown. I believe we need more player mods, more who, if you piss them off will mute you without a second thought. Jagex are the ones who can reverse it and if a player mod has good reason to, they should not be worried that the player should get away with it. The idiots and rule breakers are protected in this case because they can go up to a certain point in front of player mods without the mod feeling they have good enough proof to justify a mute. If i were a mod i'd rule with an iron fist and any rule breakers would be punished.

I'm a pretty bad merchanter, but I've tried my hand at it and have never seen a player mod merchanting. I may just be unobservant though. :-k In my overall experience with player mods, I have found them to be helpful, rule abiding runescapers. There have been some exceptions, but there always will be. Overall, I think they do help, but since they can't have the powers of J mods (which I'm glad they don't), they can't have an real effective on autoers. Cowards can't block Warriors. Triquos
yes and no, in the last few months i've had some quite immature mods as friends, makes me kind of question jagex's choice of mods sometimes, maybe i'm just in the wrong place at the wrong time, i've seen some very good mods, however =]

Myweponsg00d
I have never in my life seen a player mod do something beneficial to the game or its community. Multiple times, I have seen a player mod harass, spam, or just be a rude person in general. Need assistance in any of these skills? PM me in game, my private chat is always ON
