Nice for a first, but I think you shade a lot by random scribbling on it. Now, this type of shading is not always bad, but I think you use it a bit too much. Try using dithering to make nice textures, or 'normal' shading for things like armor, weapons, etc..

You can also take a look at some of the great pixel tutorials here on TIF, they are very useful.

Overall, good job for a first, I would rate you a 7/10. :)

try using more custom colors, the lava is made entirely from default red, orange, and yellow. Lava isn't like... sparks, it's flowing molten rock

*cracks knuckles* Alrighty, here I go. First of all, good effort for a first pixel! :D

As said before, the random scribbling = no no, unless it's on things that have that sort of texture. Unless that robe is really that crinkled, it's best to use a different shading technique than random scribbles. I did it myself on my first couple of pixels, but my suggestion is to experiment around with different shading and texturing techniques. :)

I quite like the ice'd guy in the background, good effect. I think you could tone down the white lines a little, though - they seem a little too white to me, but that's probably me nitpicking. :P

Greater demon is quite scarily deformed back there. :| (unless again, that's just me being picky)

As pointed out, lava is a little... odd. *digs out very first pixel*

(disclaimer: this is a very old pixel, please don't c/c it... actually, if you want to have c/c'ing practise, go ahead - it might help you out with your own pixelling if you can find flaws in pixels. :D)

Anyway, as you can see here, lava shouldn't be randomly scribbled like that. I think I could have used with a yellowish shade in there, actually. (I'm not saying my pixel is the only way to shade lava, of course - each to their own. :))

Left arm seems odd - maybe a bit thin. Face doesn't seem shaded, looks very flat. Sky is a little dull. :|

Anyway, you are well on your way into pixeldom. :) Work on it, try new, original scenes, new shading and colouring techniques, read up on a few tutorials, zoom in on more accomplished pixeller's signatures to see what they did and see if it looks good (but don't rip! :o).

Best of luck! :D
