Ok, my laptop has intel GMA x3100 graphic card, or at least it is wat says on the ads..

 

 

 

Recently, I've download some games, and some of them says my graphic card can't not support certain things..In other words, not good enough..

 

 

 

I know this is one of the not so well graphic card for gaming, but it takes a long time for me download and install games.. I just want to know how i can tell if my graphic card can support certain game before i download, so i don't waste my time..

 

 

 

When i look at most reqirements, it doesn't go into detail on the graphic card.. my graphic card has 256mb...and a lot of those games that i couldn't play had like 64 mb graphic card memory required, so i couldn't tell if my graphic card can acctually support it.

 

 

 

My Ram is 1gb atm.. soon 2gb and cpu is 1.8 core 2 duo t7100... I like playing first person shooting.. any suggestion which game this comp can acctually support?

First of all, the memory on the graphics card does not determine the speed.

Also the reason these games are saying they are not compatible because that is an off brand kind of card, and it is on board.

also.. when i check for my graphic card stats.. it keeps telling me i have mobile intel 965 express chipset family.. it won't tell me i have GMA x3100 which is watts shown on the ads..

Model of your laptop, please?

When it tells you that you have an intel chipset, that is exactly that, the chipset, which is not the make of your on board graphics. The chipset is more related to the architecture of your laptop and is also related to the USB and memory management etc. It does a lot more than that but I won't go into it here.

 

 

 

The quickest way to find out what your graphics card is:

 

 

 

1. Click Start.

 

2. In the Run box (XP) or Start Search box (Vista) type dxdiag and press enter. When Direct X Diag loads, click the Display tab. That is what graphics card you actually have. It should also tell you the driver version etc.

means its intergrated; it's not an actual graphics card, just a chip that runs on your motherboard, using some (256mb) of your system RAM.

 

 

 

to put it simple, its [cabbage].

 

 

 

and unfortunatly, you cant change graphics cards in laptops.

They might improve things for games, but are not recommended unless the beta hardware enabled features are essential.

Looks like this may be the driver that turns on the mauch vaunted but ill-supported capabilities. Intel chipsets maybe better at getting performance out of the CPU, but I'd sooner trust Nvidia or ATI for onboard graphics - in fact, even VIA and Sis have made a better job of it than Intel in those areas.

ok i tried to download all of them.. neither one of them work.. saying tat its not the right one.. but look at the settings on the back.. it is gm965 chipset.. y doesn't it work?
