August 28, 200718 yr Lots of selling in the discontinued section of the forums, very little buying. I see a slight drop in santas so far (someone wants to sell for 21.5 mil and will come to buyer's place and world). To me, this is not surprising at all; I'll be interested to see how far prices drop and how long the drop lasts (for all I know it could be minimal in both cases).I was waiting for this. Once they drop 1-2M I'll get 8-10 santas :anxious:

I'm only a smalltime player (only had a santa and an egg) and sold my stuff before this update hoping to either upgrade to a red mask (if prices drop a lot) or make a little cash. No risk, no reward I guess. :)
August 28, 200718 yr Any word yet on how rares were effected? I'm guessing there was a definite drop, but unlike for getting skill capes, no items/gp are removed from the game so over time rares should be boosted.

So far, there has been a drop, but not what I was hoping for. :) I'd say that santas have dropped ~350k so far.
August 28, 200718 yr i think the economy is already messed up then you know nothing You're right. The economy never really gets "messed up", but it fluctuates and gets disturbed by new item releases and bugs. Remember when Construction came out? It lowered the prices of just about everything unrelated to the skill, which brought a lot of the items down to earth (rares). While rares did recover over time, it left a dent for a long while. But other items such as barrows armor and whips did not and are still on a steady course to becoming budget gear. Just because the economy changes doesn't mean it's screwed up. Bottom line: Rares will always go up. They've overcome all obstacles in the past (duplication, construction) whereas items which are still obtainable will always go down. There are a few exceptions, such as the robin hood hat, but that should go down too now for people who can wear void armor (full ranged void is better than full black dragon+ranger set). I forget what the original topic was. Got kinda off on a rabbit rail o.O..
August 28, 200718 yr i think the economy is already messed up then you know nothing I probably know nothing about the economics of this kiddie game, it just doesn't count in my life. And I said I thought it was messed up because of the inflation, and raw ressources lower priced than they should because of the autoers. I never said it was "crashed", messed up can have many different meanings, you picked the wrong one. I know a little about irl economics, but I just don't see how something like a recession, or a depression could happen in a Runescape context. How would that happen? It seems impossible. I played this game, on and off, for around 5 yrs, I saw particular items crash, but never a whole economy crash. I played a little of some other games aswell, there was price drops on particular items too, but never I saw a whole economy crash either. All those people moaning about the economy going to crash are just annoying, the odds of that happening are so little it's ridiculous. 2480+ total

During last 3 year, raw material prices have been surprisingly stable. With a proper inflation they should be the thing that "live". Also the rising prices of rares don't depend only on the amount of money in game, it also depends on supply&demand. It's no wonder that discontinued items keep rising in prices and even with less money on the game they'd do it, maybe in a smaller scale but still. I personally saw that term first time at your post. I agree that without big updates the economy won't dramatically change. Smaller updates like we got yesterday will temporary affect to it, but they aren't too dramatic. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
