When they get to the hotel, the only room available costs 30$ so they each chip in their ten and go up to the room with a disgruntled bell hop who knows he's going to get stiffed on the tip. When the bell hop gets back to the front desk, the registrar tells him he made a mistake; that room is only 25$! He gives the bell hop five $1 bills and tells him to give them their change. The bell hop figures they'll forget to tip him again and he can't figure how to split five $1 bills three ways anyway so he pockets 2$ and gives each guy 1$ back. Ok so each guy chipped in 10$ and got 1$ back for a total of 9$ each. Nine times 3 is 27 plus the two that the bell hop kept is 29$... where did the last dollar go?
