Gonna end up being a volcano explosion of some sort... Lava is next... :)

I set the wrong number for keyframes in quicktime when I had the video rendered, so it ends wierd... don't worry about it though, it isn't really like that.

Let me know if the link doesnt work... does anyone know any places I can host a 500k quicktime?

So, what do you think?

It looks good, your movie is a bit short :P.

I don't know what you plan on adding, but here are a few things that it's missing/should be added:

  •

[*:3ni074k8]The flame should be rolling more. If it just blasted out of the earth, there would be some resistance after hitting the air.

[*:3ni074k8]Black in the flame as smoke.

[*:3ni074k8]A little wider towards the top, with a tapering effect.

I like it though. These things are good contributions to the Media Discussion Board :).

Yeah it's less than 2 seconds... It was supposed to be around 3.5, but as I said, I messed up the keyframing when I rendered it, I forgot that I had changed the frame rate, blah blah blah you probably won't understand... Anywho, yeah it's short....

We removed smoke because it actually doesn't look that great. The program we use doesn't do fire that well (as you can see); instead it likes to make what we call orange cotton balls. We aren't too convinced yet, we are thinking about buying 3dsm and upgrading it with Afterburn just to do this one project, that's how important it is. I've also messed around recently with RealFlow, and I'm pretty impressed. Unfortunately I'm not much a texturer/shader writer and I need help in that area.

Tapering is possible but with so many different settings it's hard to get right. There are so many different controls on the structure and controlling the particles is proving difficult.

More later. :)

yes, the fire needs to 'spread?' more, and yes it does seem like orange cotton
