Mazurizi Posted September 5, 2007 Share Posted September 5, 2007 I wish to play a DVD (legal, paid for.) on my Computer, but it opens in Windows Media player saying I'm missing MPEG 2 Decoder. And when I click Webhelp and follow through the instructions it leads to 3-4 different links to sites. All of them you have to pay for the software. Is there any MPEG 2 Decoders out there for free? I had films playing on my PC before and I didn't need one of these MPEG 2 Decoders. Windows XP Professional, All Windows Updates done, Windows Media Player 10, Need anymore stats lets me know and instructions how to get them. Error Message: Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card. That's after I tried a free MPEG 2 Decoder off the internet. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you don't, PM me. :wink: Also you might want to download CCCP. I won't say guarantee, but this'll most likely solve your problem. It did on my laptop. Notoriously Trollish. If you want to find out what video card you have: Start Menu -> Run -> type "dxdiag", click the Display tab and look at the name. Go to the manufacturers website, find the most up to date drivers and download them. Also, you might want to try a different media player. Like Winamp or VLC Media Player.
