Questing the Abyss

Featured Replies

I am attempting the Devious Minds quest and have been informed that this requires traveling via the Abyss :anxious:

I sure could use some advice from some of you experts out there about the best way or ways to accomplish this. Since I am adamantly against pking (just not my thing) and have no wish to be pk'ed, although I understand that I am not supposed to have a choice in the matter, I'd like some tips on how to successfully complete that part of the quest as quickly and efficiently as possible, hopefully without dying.

So, without further........ Lead on ya'll!

The Zamorak mage who teles you to the abyss is located in 5-6 lvl wild. It is not that deep and you most likely won't get pked. If anything, just run from edgeville with your best dhide and mage protect prayer on if you are that scared. Once you are in, your prayer will drain and you will get skulled. Also, abyss pkers dont generally attack unskulled players.

hmm ive never done this quest before but i have never been pked before doing the abyss, just switch worlds and take peeks at the wilderness before you enter and you should be safe.

but judging from your post you probably never been to the abyss before so your going to have to talk to the mage and do his mini quest.

Also, carry a one click teleport such as an Ectophial or Tele-Tablet.

That way, if you are in risk of getting attacked, just click the tele and your safe. Don't worry too much, most RC pkers are dim witted and it is quite easy to escape them.

First - oops for postie on wrong board. #-o

Second - Thanks for the ultra quick responses guys I appreciate it.

I have done the favor for the Mage so that part is all smooth and I have me pouches all safe in the bank

Never having done the actual abyss part I was not sure of the relative risk/non-risk to trotting out into the wild. Usually only go when I have a clue scroll.

I shall pack my ectophial forthwith! As well as wear the lovely  diamond bracelet to avoid the skull thingy.

The Abyss guide states there are a number of ways to the inner core how does this part work? Do I need to take a bunch of stuff to cope with the differing blocks or do I run around looking for a particular one? Don't wish to appear dense but .... I want those quest points! :-k

There are different ways to go in the inner ring of the abyss, where the rifts to the different altars are. All but one of them require a skill: either thieving, agility, woodcutting, mining or firemaking. You should bring a pickaxe, as there is almost always a mining or an agility option to get in there.

I'd suggest you to read Tip.it's entry on the abyss as well, it may give you some useful information.

if you just want to get in as fast as possible, bring a pickaxe, tinderbox and a wc axe. the mining spots are usually along the western and southern side.. while the agility ones are on the northern and eastern sides.. wc and fm spots are scattered around. just go for one thats nearest to your spawn point.

Remember that nature crafters go through the abyss hundreds of times and don't die

You'll be fine. Dhides + magic pray + not being skulled + tele and there is no way in hell you'll die. Bring some food too if you like, but you don't really need it. The monsters in the abyss hardly hit. Once you're in, you'll be between 2 obstacles into the inner ring, and they'll always be the agility shortcut or the mining one. So all you need is a pickax.
