Best way to 66 mage?

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm training fishing and will need to do swan song to fish monks, but i need 66 magic. What would be the best way to get there from 55 mage? I'll have around 1.6 mill to spend, but i can probably make that into 2 mill. If you say alch, could you say what to alch etc, because i'll ave to buy that too. Thanks,

buy nats 270-280 ea and yew longs 600-610 ea and alch them

Don't waste ur cash on alchs. Buy curse spells and cast and splash them they'd be cheaper.

Actually, since you only need to get inside the magic guild, you could get by with 63 magic and a Wizard's Mind Bomb, or 62 and a magic potion. I'd suggest failing curses to get there, very cheap training.

Because i'm nooby i don't know the 'splashing curses' technique - could you explain it to me? And also, roughly what exp per hour is it?

The idea is to wear metal armour so your magic bonus is highly negative. This will make you fail every curse; however, you still get the same exp for failing. I'm guessing it's like 10-15k/hour.

As you also have a mining target, maybe push your smithing too, as anything you can mine, smelt and make that alchs for more than the price of a nat would be good to alch.

It may not be the most efficient, but I've always RC'd minds & airs, and thrown fire strikes by the K, safespotting Ankou or Lessers - and making a curse hit first, to increase the hits.

Failed cursing is so insanely tedious. As is single cast crumble, nerfed of its double XP because there are members weapons which auto-cast it.

Pest control may be a possibilty, use mage attacks and put points to mage(100 at a time for the bonus), or save the points for a Void Knight Mace if you want a crumble autocast weapon and have the stats for it.

buy nats 290 ea

buy mage longs 1.1-1.2 ea from cosmic company

alch for a profit

if you buy 1k longs for 1.2m and 1k nats for 300k, thatws 1.5 mking you a 36k profit per 1k bows

Thanks all... i'm leaning towards the cursing method simply because its so cheap, and because i've heard nat's are hard to buy for 300ea now. Any ideas on what to curse?

The cagged zamerok monk in verrock castle is good.

One good curse area is the Al-Kharid mine scorpions, from the rim - reasonable numbers of them, and when the curse does hit, probably won't have to wait too long for someone else to kill.

Ducks are another good option, and a classic target because:

1. There are plenty of them

2. They can't hit back (unless you walk to the edge)

3. They are not in great demand

If a curse does take, they also die pretty quickly if you walk up and hit with your staff

I found enchanting in the MTA fast XP.

Trust the Gene Genie!

Contrary to popular belief superheating mith bars is actulay the same xp / hour as alching, and you dont spend any $$, AND u get smithing xp as an added bonus.

The drawback to superheating is that the materials are harder to purchase, and you need to sell the mith bars afterwards.

Buying mith ore 450ea coal 190ea and nats 290ea

Then selling mith bars 1.5kea you break even, if you can buy lower and sell higher than these prices you even make a proffit.
