TRAVIAN!

Travian is a browser-based game, made in PHP, and is therefore played directly through the internet with a web browser. While Travian is a strategy game, with events occurring and resources accumulated in real time, it should not be confused with other types of real time strategy games where actions occur in a highly interactive and fast paced environment. The player starts with a village but seeks to amass an empire. [3] No downloads, installations or plugins are required, although a graphicpack may be downloaded to ease server stress. After registration, players may start playing Travian immediately, free of charge. Travian provides enhanced access, through mobile phones for example, for a fee. Also, a "Plus" feature which provides additional tools is available for purchase with prices starting at $2.99 per month.[4]

Tribes

Once joining Travian, you must choose a tribe with each of its ups and downs in consideration. First, there are the Romans. Their troops are the most balanced, but are the most expensive. They are average in all their statistics, but may work on more than one building at a time. They are the most popular tribe. Next, there are the Gauls. They are heavily speed and defense based, and are good for non-aggressive persons. They have a special building that can create traps and capture enemy soldiers. They specialize in cavalry. They have the cheapest settlers and are one of the more used tribes. They may hide more resources than other tribes when under attack. Last of the playable tribes are the Teutons. They are very slow and have terrible armour, but are very good for attacking. Their ability allows them to steal a third of the rescources you hide when attacked. They are also in possession of the cheapest of all the tribes' soldiers. Finally, there are the Natarians. Natar's statistics and advantages are unknown, but they are a very powerful NPC tribe trying to take over all of Travian. They have many advantages that players consider unfair, such as the ability to store many more resources than other tribes, the use of war elephants in place of horses for cavalry(making them very powerful), and the ability to create Wonders of the World.

Resources

There are four different types of resources in Travian: wood, clay, iron and wheat, all of which are required in various quantities to build and expand. The resources are produced by fields in one's village, producing resources at a preset rate, which may be upgraded. For example, upgrading your level 5 forest to level 6 would yield 50 units of wood per hour instead of the original 33. Unusually for an online browser-based game, field tiles continuously generate resources. For example, if 30 units of a resource are to be produced per hour, one unit is generated every 2 minutes, rather than 30 units on the hour.

Variations

The game has game servers running in dozens of languages, each language having its own domain extension, e.g. travian.de in German, travian.fr in French, travian.com, travian.us and travian.co.uk in English.[5] There are currently seven game servers running on the International version of the game, numbered s1 to s7. Each server represents a separate world. Travian version 2 game is in progress on s6 and s3 while version 3 is in use on s1, s2, s4 and s7.

There is also a "Speed Server" available, where building times are reduced by two-thirds.

Alliances

Alliances provide the main catalyst for strategic play within Travian whereby groups of players can band together for mutual benefit. Within an alliance, players can view attack and defense information for all alliance members, and also have improved communication tools such as mass alliance-wide in-game messages. Alliances will typically use an external forum to discuss strategy and tactics, and one of the main hooks of the Travian game play experience is in co-ordinating massed defenses or attacks with other alliance members.

Game Objectives

Though Travian is a war game, a specific objective is required to be accomplished in order to win a game server and this is to be the first alliance to build a Wonder of the World or in short World Wonder that has a level of 100.

Yeah, I recently came back after a few months of Tribal Wars. I play on US-Speed, and I'm getting my second village today or tomorrow. :D

Played it 2 years ago, I was in the top 100 on server 2 but it became boring after Uniforce beat that other huge alliance (what's their name again) and ruled the server.

Retired

2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.
