zonda595
This is with one of my other accounts. I have 1.2m cash, I'm a member, and I need some help with merchanting. I have read many guides on it before but most aren't very helpful. I would like some ideas...something like a merchanting plan? All suggestions would be really helpful. Only one request NO LOG MERCHANTING. From info I've gotten from previous experiences I was thinking along the lines of Barrows, Dragon, etc.
VjuliusT
Do NOT merchant it's a waste of time. especially if you only have 1,2m to start with. I suggest spending time on a skill.

samari81
Ignore the above comments :) Microsoft Excel comes in very handy with my merchanting. Like you I started with a very small amount. So you start with small things. Dragon is quite poor for merchanting really. Unless you spot a bargain. Step-By-Step I'll take you through it 1) Open a new spreadsheet 2) Label the top columns: "Item", "Bought for", "Sold for", "Quantity", "Profit" (I hope you know how to do your formulas) 3) Choose the items you'd like to merchant, with that sort of cash, I'd suggest coal and iron or Rune items. E.g. Buy rune in parts then sell as full rune. 4) Add in the items column all the items you plan to merchant 5) Add in the price you're prepared to buy for and the price you're prepared to sell for 6) Buy the items you need then when you think you have enough, in your quantity column type in each quantity 7) Once your spreadsheet is completely set up, go and sell your items 8) Don't forget to update your columns regularly to keep track of profits and loses 9) Finally you might also want to have another cell saying "Total profit" and put the one next to it with a formula that adds up all your profits Now for some ideas Item - Buy - Sell Rune Helm - 24k - 30k Rune Plate - 50k - 60k Rune Kite - 40k - 50k Rune Legs - 40 - 50k Full Rune - 150k - 180-200k Coal - 160gp - 180-200gp Iron - 90-100gp - 105-120gp I hope I've helped :)-Samari Help me starting out again - Give YOUR advice! If you're collecting in game "hyt's" send me a message here or in game :D
ultimatballr
Well all there is to it is spend ages in world 2 finding people selling items below the average price. You thenbuy the items, then sell them for a higher price than you bought for. This is where people make a common mistake. Merchanters do not try to BUY an majority of there items (whichever it is they are merchin) in w2. Since thats where all the other merchanters are. Make a post on the forums, Runescape Official Forums (of course), and post what you are buying and the amount of what you are buying in the title. NEVER post the price you are buying for in your title, especially if it is below the average price people buy for. It is the #1 way to get ignored. Then make you post with as much detail as you want, but try to keep it short as most people are trying to sell fast and have to short of an attention span to read your detailed and lengthy post. Here is an example of what my posts looked like when I was merchin barrows(note I averaged over 4-5m a day[about 5-8 hours of play]) [hide=Thread Example(Buying)] Title = ">>Buying all your Barrows<<" Thread looked exactly like this: Current Status: ---------------- Game: Online Forums: Online ---------------- I am buying these barrows sets/pieces. Post or PM to sell (preferably PM) -All Prices are FIRM!-Lower offers will be rejected- -No Scams, Spam or HiJacking (you will be reported) **Trades will be done: --YOUR WORLD, MY PLACE-- (thats fair isnt it?) ______________ ---Guthans--- ______________ Helm:~~~> 1.4M Plate:~~> 350k Skirt:~~> 300k Spear:~~> 4.4M Set without spear 2.05M Set with spear 6.5M ====================== ______________ ---Veracs--- ______________ Helm:~~~~> 1.2M Brassy:~~> 900k Skirt:~~~> 400k Flail:~~~> 400k Set without flail 2.5M Set with flail 3.1M ====================== ______________ ---Dharoks--- ______________ Helm:~~~> 600k Plate:~~> 450k Legs:~~~> 400k Axe: ~~~> 900k 1 Set whithout axe 1.5 Set with axe 2.4 ====================== ______________ ---Ahrims--- ______________ Hood:~~~> 200k Top:~~~~> 400k Skirt:~~> 400k Staff:~~> 50k Set without staff 1.1M Set with staff 1.2M ============================ ______________ ---Karils--- ______________ Only Buying Sets No Bow Set:~~~> 650k _______________________ ---Not Buying Torags--- _______________________ Thanks Have a Nice Day/Night. [/hide] [hide=Thread Example(Selling)] Title = ">All your Barrows Needs<" Thread looked exactly like this: **************->_<-(((CASH ONLY)))->_<-************** Current Status: ---------------- Game: Online Forums: Online ---------------- I am selling these barrows sets/pieces. Post or PM to sell (preferably PM) -All Prices are FIRM!-Lower offers will be rejected- -No Scams, Spam or Hi-Jacking (you will be reported) **Trades will be done: --YOUR WORLD, MY PLACE-- (thats fair isn't it?) _______________________________________________________ --Dharoks:-- **SOLD OUT** Plate:-> SOLD G-Axe:-> SOLD Legs:--> SOLD --Guthans:-- Full G:-> 2.5 --Veracs:-- Full V:-> SOLD Helm:---> 1.5m Brassy:-> 1.1m Flail:--> 450k --Ahrims:-- Hood:--> 300k Skirt:-> 500k Staff:-> SOLD --Karil:-- Full K:-> SOLD Coif:---> SOLD *-Bow:--> 300k [/hide] Now of course the prices now have changed drastically but this is just an example. Some Not-so-Common rules: (you may or may not know this) -->ALWAYS!!! Always Always Always(cant stress this enough) Always put the rules of your thread in the beginning and make them stand out or else your PM's will be those of the sort you do not want -->ALWAYS!!! Always be polite when someone pm's you or posts on your thread. (A number of times I got a PM of people who offered to sell for more than what I was buying for and when I told them "Nty, Thanks for your interest and the offer though" they decided to sell for my price. Kindness works!) Always say "ty, much appreciated =)" after you accept a trade. Polite = respect and more ppl like you. Which means they won't be afraid to sell you more items another time. -->I prefered to woodcut in Draynor while I merched. Its easy to lose track of time and not pay attention to the amount of items adding up in your bank, easy to tele to if you have to meet someone and easy for others to get to... Most merchanters stay in world 2 constantly selling the supply of what they have and buying if they see a deal. I prefer to get exp and buy all at once, then sell when I am down to 1m. -->NEVER! Never be afraid to compromise with people, don't be afraid to go a 50-100k above the price you ask for (with barrows at least) as you are normally paying 2-300k under the norm price anyway. --> Use other peoples threads as well as bumping your own from time to time. Now I am not saying advertise on threads of people buying/selling items about your thread. Just post on thread of people selling what you are buying and vice versa(when your selling what they are buying) This is how I made a majority of my purchases and sales. -For example, if you see a post about someone selling something and you are buying. Simply post or PM them about it. Inform them you are willing to buy at your price (make sure to tell them what it is). The worse they can say is "No" or "No you dumb merch". Either way tell them "ok, thanks for your time" they are usually reluctant to hear this and say "ty" back to you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ These are just a few things I learned, and I hope they help you. Good luck in your merchanting. Apparently, my signature was to big.

boxer5543
Just buy 1k - 5k iron ores (make sure you are buying them at 110 each) and then sell them for 130 each. You can also merchant free-to-play items like wizzy (g) robes buy it al 800k and sell it for 850k (simple 50k right there). When you have around 3mill take 1.5 mill and buy some nats 300 each if possible then sell thim for 330 each. Make sure that you always have spare money in your bank incase of price changes. Once you get 4mill get a whip or ranger set, you might not be able to make a gain from them right away but there prices are always rising and lowering so you will have it for when they go up in price. Cyco_Reborn
I'd say it's much wiser to spend 1.2m on a skill that could be used to get that money back, like smithing. You are not getting anywhere with 1.2 mil on smithing.... I think the above post is great merch advice. If you skill you could 99 FM or make cash with RC.
