is it worth going next gen if I don't have a HD TV?

Featured Replies

will it totally ruin the great graphics and experience if I don't have a HD TV?

Not really no. HD looks great, yeah, but games will still look just fine on a normal TV.

If you have a nice computer monitor (however) you can get a VGA adapter for whatever system you want and hook it up to that. I use my xbox 360 on my 22" widescreen monitor and it looks AMAZING, and the monitor only cost something like $250.

Just a good suggestion.

Here's the question I use as a 14 year old without a job and all...do I want to work for maybe a year or so and save up around $1000 to look at pretty gr4ff1x, or do I want to buy the 360 and play the games on a normal tv without the shiny eye candy?

I choose to buy the 360 and not look at eye candy....I'm messing with thumb candy ^_^

In all seriousness, buy the 360. Play it. If you love the games, love the consoles, and can afford the HD-TV you want, go for it.

A year ago I bought a 32" LCD costing something around that... After hooking up my friend's Wii, I can tell you it makes no difference. :)

Of course.. Who wouldn't like a bigger screen for playing? That's always a bonus. But no, it doesn't really add to the "eye candy".

I felt just like playing on an old 19" TV, the graphics are exactly the same.

If you save up $1K by the time you're 15 (very realistic, you could earn way more by working a few hours a day after school), definitely buy the console, not a pretty TV. Heck, if you want to spend it all, you can get all 3 major consoles (since PS3 will have dropped in price by 2008) and have money left over for games.

Lol, nice...I'd heard previously that 'Hey, there's no reason to buy a 360 unless you have an HD-TV'...so I just made assumptions that the graphics were better. We've got one anyways though, but I probably wont even play regularly on it once I get my 360.

Just incase you don't know but the Wii only goes up to 480i, so it doesn't support HD. That would be why it didn't make a difference. :P

Yes you should buy a next gen console even with out a HDTV.

I mean i have a PS3 and no HDTV.

I have an Xbox360 without HDTV and my games still look great ::'

go for next gen

If you get a 360 with no HD don't play Dead Rising unless you have microscopes built into your eyes.

No. I play my 360 on my SDTV, and sure it's not great, but it looks much better when you start to realize that an HDTV will put you down and out a couple thousand (maybe that much :? )

Hahahaha, so true, so true.

But really, you don't need an HD if you go next-gen; I don't, and I'm perfectly happy with my 360 :)
