I appreciate that mods would like to lock this thread but i request that you could leave it open for a while. I jusy want to know other peoples opinions on this.

 

 

 

This is not a rant about chat mods, i think they do a great job i really do. (Call me a suck up and i will wish death upon you -.-)

 

 

 

Also this is NOT a rant about lightning's chat, its the same as any other chat and im fine with it thats not the issue im traing to raise here. (well it is in a way i just didn't know how to put it. :shock:

 

 

 

The problem i see is the "Spammers" (Social rejects whose mummy never gave them a kiss and a cuddle, for those who don't know what they are)

 

 

 

The problem is that they consitently make a new account and spam us silly. Now i appreciate the mods can't kick them because they "Pre-Type" press enter and leave this isn't there fault, they can't do anything about that so please do not bring it up.

 

 

 

People obviously report them, and lightning does add them to her ignore list its just too late though, by the time she comes online and ignores them Jagex have most likely already banned them and by that point we see new names in the chat, (most likely the same person/person's)

 

 

 

The problem i have raised is that these players are added to the ignore list's too late to have any real effect.

 

 

 

There is also an issue of these spammers attacking certain players, and using their names.

 

 

 

DO NOT... tell me to add them to my ignore list, im thinking of everyone not myself here, and no matter how many times you tell people not everyone will do that.

 

 

 

The solution is simple. Can we not just have a new chat host?

 

 

 

Im thinking of some of the REAL runescape mods who are able to kick in the chat. They are obviously trusted people to get to be a mod.

 

 

 

Such as Adam, or Lady.

 

 

 

Or we could have one of the current generals who are very active.

 

 

 

Im thinking on the lines of Gaara, or Rsw44, or ginger, deal and fudgy.

 

 

 

But to be honest im would be happy with any active player to host the chat, so they could add these rulebreakers on the day they break the rules. This way they would have to waste time making a new account every 10 seconds, get bored and stop. Think of a clean chat, no spam, and knowing that any would get banned quickly and efficiantly. (And couldn't come back in a hour to spam us silly!)

Lightning chat, as far as i know, is not the official chat of Tipit.

 

 

 

A lot of people have suggested to make a new chat but i don't believe any action has yet to be taken into making a new one, this is probably because it has to be made unofficially so it's hard to decide who's responsible enough to be the new host.

I know i have mentioned some names of people i see as reliable.

 

 

 

But the point it lets take action and make a new host rather than keep talking about it. Spammers can't win i wont let them :twisted: !

Why don't one of the Admins just make an OFFICIAL chat? Because of what Jagex said about 'tipitchat'?

I have noticed that there aren't many recognizable chatters anymore on Lightning's chat, and there're many spammers. I'll gladly use my name as a clan chat for my fellow Tip.Iters, I am an active player in the east coast, and my ignore list is empty. :P

We are working on setting up a new clan chat that will be an unofficial one, however it will be run by one of the crew. I do not know what the progress of the chat is, but I can check on it in a while.

 

 

 

However, it must be understood that this clan chat is an *unofficial* chat. We do try and keep it neat and spam-free, however we are only human.

I don't think there allowed too. Basically for the same reason tipitchat was taken down. I think they might be able to make an official one under a different name, but if it has "tipit" in the name it's(apparently) website advertising and breaking rule 11.

The only real solution is to use player mods, who have the ability to mute players. Unfortunately clan chat wasn't designed for what we are using it for, and there is no anti-spam methods available (though they should stop people from pre-typing something)
