I created a little tool, which, after entering the number of a rs world, creates a .html file with the contents just as in Bradley_006's thread (http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=598884)

 

and then runs firefox that opens the html file...

 

 

 

Is this against the rules / can I get banned for this?

 

 

 

I mean; It's not software at all - my program doesn't have to do anything with runescape here - after the .html file is created, firefox does the rest - so what do you think?

I believe you CAN get banned for this, as this is a third party software and it gives an unfair advantage.

It's not against the rules though it should be imo, since it provides an unfair advantage over other players.

It is in violation of rule 7, but Jagex can't detect it so use it as you will.

Go read the runescape rules, you are using a html frame to bypass the normal navigation of the website so YES it is a violation.

 

 

 

Btw it being 1st party means nothing, if somebody wrote a macro program does that mean that it is legal for them to use it themself? No.

Since firefox is hardly runescape specific (since it's a web browser) it shouldn't be a problem. However, your best bet is to send a query to jagex about it.

That guide wasn't proven to not be rule breaking, creating desktop shortcuts was proved to not be rule breaking.

This is definitely legal, because it's no different from just keeping a browser window open and later selecting+clicking another world to join directly.

 

 

 

It's not a third-party application or cheat either, it performs the exact same function as clicking the server on runescape.com.

 

 

 

Now that inbuilt server-switching is in the game, this would be useless for "fast-hopping" as well. This would be just like visiting forum.tip.it: Instead of writing that manually, you just click a link to get here.

 

 

 

Nobody gets an unfair advantage, all you get is a few seconds of saved time.
