Reducing file size of an avatar?

Featured Replies

I want to use an avatar on this forum but due to an 8 KB limit on file size, I am unable to do so. The avatar is 90 x 90 and has a file size of 23.8 KB. It is just a normal pixel avatar.

What should I do to lower it to 8 KB?

Some of us have software that can help with that issue. If you post the picture here, one of us might be able to manipulate it without actually changing it.

The picture I have is when this moving avatar gets to "Gladz" and then printscreened it to get just that bit in an effort to lower the file size. I would prefer the whole avatar personally but whatever is possible is accepted with many thanks :).

Ok, unfortunately, the software I have doesn't work with animated pictures. Per your request, I did manage to get the part of the animation you wanted, and I was also able to lower the size of the first alternative you gave to fit.

This jpg is at 94% quality, which is still pretty good. You can't see any of the graining so it still works out.

This one only had to be dropped down to 98% quality, since the color differences are rather low. Perhaps someone else can do better with your animated ones, but either way, here are my attempts.

Also, for future reference (and possible current reference), people in the Gallery boards usually have better software and might be more able to help you whittle those down to size.

Thanks very much! I'll ask a moderator to move this to The Gallery to see if the results will be better but your help was greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much for trying and no, I did not make these :P. They're clan avatars but the filesize of them was too big for this forum = they need to be resized.

Thanks Woop <3: .
