Hey Bubbly! I'm posting beacause I haven't in awhile and I saw the list of bumps last page... (owch) and I have to say, PEOPLE IF YOU READ IT AND HAVE TIME POST!

Anyway, that said I believe that steam power isn't that far out for rs, I mean this is dated around the 1500's for most of rs? Korea was building the first ironclads, cannons were being built, gunpowder was starting to take a stronger hold, China had mastered mass production (I mean they had the whole friggen industrial age right there! At least until the Turks came in and destroyed everything  ) China also invented the flamethrower and made a portable version of the trebuchet that never had to be rebuilt at site, just rolled there. Steam engines were being tested in ancient China and Korea to power Korean ships and the royal carriage in China. (UGH! Why did the Turks have to invade and we lost all this advancement for over 300 years?)

Ok that over but, you get the point. There was easily this technology back in the time rs is "dated" and rs has dwarves. You can also fly on gliders, something we didn't have for another 150 years practically. So give me a reason why this isn't plausible? Oh and members, yeah you pay and it is unfair if they get a huge update but think about it, would you use the trains when they are expensive to make and you have cheaper means right beside you in the form of fairy rings, teles, and gliders or eagles? Not many other for fun I bet where as f2p will gobble it up and people will rejoice and possibly want to join members for better trains among others.

My favorite smiley: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: on parade.

And, Jagex has stated that Runescape isn't supposed to be historically accurate or realistic.

As I said on my first post, these aren't giant freight locomotives with diesel-electric generators, they are little steam powered...carts, almost.

The first locomotives were invented in 1829, almost 80 years before the first gliders.

They're very limited in the places they can go, which is just right for F2P. Free players have limited areas to go in the first place. If these were in F2P, it would give Horses/Riding a reason to be Members only.

Another thing that annoys me is that some members reject the idea, not because the idea is too expensive or too slow, but because most of the idea is F2P. They're willing to give up an update they can use to benefit themselves to keep it so F2P stays in poverty. It doesn't make any sense...

Basically you're just flaming free players. I'd like some constructive, non-"f2p r n33bs" feedback.

Look at all of the benefits members get? They get 99/100, if all of, the updates each year. The Duel Arena wasn't "taken away" from Members, it was just given access rights to free players. Same with team capes and the Party Room.

And Bounty Hunter and Clan Wars.

These updates were added at the price of the Wilderness. Free Players, too, had to pay that price.

And it doesn't make it too easy, the fastest train goes about three times the speed of running. Which is members only.

That isn't true at all.

I'm not trying to start a flame war, but some Free Players have parents who won't let them get membership, don't want the addiction, or feel like contributing their money to something like a car, an iPod, or whatever.

If you have no constructive criticism, please leave my thread.

Too much for the server.

Really great idea though.

Would really love that to happen.

But it would cause lags and crashes. And bugs I guess.

So a neutral from me.

Actually it is meant to be underground from what I understand and therefore shouldn't lag stuff aboveground and they could possibly shard it to keep lag down. A couple people to an underground tunnel, it gets full, new shard opens.

ps. Bubbly, my former post was for the people trying to get everything historically accurate because I believe it would have been a better argument to get through their skulls.

Although in itself this would be great. But due to the technology, cost and sheer mass of this idea it would be too difficult to create. Also you would have to have a few quest requirements as well to travel because it would just become lazy persons transport. Maybe if you do certain quests you unlock certain stations. Stations would become market places, pretty much like banks, and a perfect spot for the nice lovely freind i like to call LAG.

Also if you ever gave this idea to Jagex i can almost guarantee you that there is 0% of it EVER being an F2P thing. And it will 0% never be a skill. So since at the top of the page it says "Jagex can use this as long as they do not change the F2P or P2P status" then this will not be used purely because of that statement.

I'd love to support but i can see sizeable chunks of problems with this. Sorry.

This actually wouldn't be that laggish. Think a second Grand Exchange and Castle Wars.

To the person who said you needed to do a quest because it will be for lazy players... Won't that defeat the purpose? This is for people who want to travel quickly without having to teleport, but if they have the money. It's like you being stuck in Rimmington and thinking, "Shoot! I have no teleports, there's no bank, how do I get out of here quickly?"

It also effectively fulfills the "Banking from Anywhere" and "More inventory space" requests that I've seen fairly often. Someone can chop a tree, fill their train with logs, then drive it to a station close to a bank, all in one trip. (Or at least turning about 10 trips into 1) I'll also consider adding an Engineer NPC who can drive your train for you.

Just something to chew on: being fantasy, anything can happen like bubblyjoe says, for example, Final Fantasy, swords and magic yet, they have airships and lasers and partical distortion whactimacalits. Runescape: also fantasy, not a big difference in genres.

There also were NO banks, no Hot Air Balloons, or Magic in the Middle Ages. Along with Dwarves, Giants, Tz-Haar, Elves, Gnomes, Fairies, Goblins, Magic Trees, Mithril, Adamant, Runite, Dragons, Ghosts, Zombies, Vampires, Ents, Game Shows, Golems, Trolls, and Summoning.

So if RuneScape is strictly Midieval, why not get rid of all of the above?

agreed bubbly, the same reasons over and over again... I must post my favorite smiley negatively for once...

:wall: :wall: :wall:

But seriously, post something bubbly can build off of, not repeat in slightly different form or me to do the same job I have for the last page, supporting his reasoning. I want to see some constructive critiscism people!

Yes, and to all of the people who say, "LAG":

This would actually strain the game engine less.

Groups of players would be moving in the same direction, so the game engine can focus on certain areas easier. They would also be sitting in the passenger car, doing nothing. Also straining the database less. However, if single players moved in different directions, on the other hand, it strains the engine more because it has to focus on a scattered database of players. The engine would be strained by teleporting more than this, because most teleports occur one at a time.

So now the lag problems are solved.
