graphic card question

well, it took me a while to figure out how to get shaders and stuff on my graphic card.. I updated the graphic card, and when on system req for games to check it works. However, even passing everything on the list, the test still shows that i've failed to meet the min reqirement.

 

 

 

any idea what i have failed to meet?

 

 

 

btw, i have intel GMA x3100 intergraded graphic card on my laptop

You have integrated video, which means it's sharing RAM with the rest of the system. The game or whatever test you ran is looking for a dedicated card, which would be why it marked it as failed.

Those benchmarks are just a guide, they can all be green, but you're card can still be below what is required.

 

 

 

This is quite often the case on laptop graphics cards, so little room to make the cards decent, that's probably as good as it will get.

 

 

 

wasnt there a way to compare with simular systems on vista thing or am i thinking of something else.

Essentially, it means your graphics chip doesn't meet the minimum requirement. Intel's integrated graphics are really bad.. That's about all I can say...

Well most games say that X, Y, Z cards are compatible but their laptop counterparts have not been tested but "may" work. The site may be following strict requirements and failing the laptop graphics so they don't say it works and then it doesn't and make you waste money on the game.

 

 

 

There was a way on Vista to tell that is built in called the "Windows Experience Index" and gave your computer a point rating (1-6 rating) based on the lowest score. It's generally not a good indication for system requirements.

What I was saying is on the vista experience thing on RC2, b4 vista was released I seem to remember there being something on the experience thing that can compare it to other simular computers. maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember it.

 

 

 

It wont make the card magically better but it might give an idea what laptop cards perform better.
