Motivation (Long-Term)

Yeah...the best proven way to get to a long term goal is to, as someone before me said, set MILESTONES. NEVER say "I'm going to go out and get 99 mining." because then you'll get half way through and say "Damn, this takes too long, I give up."

Instead, say "I'm going to get to 15 mining"

Then when you do, say "I'm going to get to 30 mining"

Then when you do say "I'm going to get to 50 mining" etc etc.

Do this until you get to 99 mining.

If you set too many goals too far away, and not enough in between, you'll have no rewards in between, and without rewards in between, there's hardly enough motivation to move on.

My next goal: Get to 80 combat and 50 slayer. ;)

My overall goal: Get to 126 combat and 85 slayer :)

Set lower target in between its easier.. i set 2 levels jump in smithing everytime i level....

when u reach 66 smithing.. next targeted level will be 68.. however hard to mine and smith the bars.. well.. take ur time.. it will get there..

Well I just look forward to the small advancements along the way such as the ability to mine something better or smith better. So I like to set small goals.

I started to get 85 Mining, passed out with boredom at 60.

Was gonna get 99 Thieving, worked on herblore after I got 46.

I usually motivate myself by thinking how I will be better than my mates.

i give up within 2 weeks of setting my goal. i look ahead and see how much further i have to go and i feel like quitting? this is just a personal factor ... motivation is just a way to help increase your patience. once your patience runs out, i don't really think you can go further.

for me, my way of motivation is to find a fellow fisherman and race him to 80 fishing.

Im poor with getting to milestones, if i enjoy something i'll do it easily but in a game i wouldn't do something i hated, for example i'm never going to get my farming above level 10 because i dont enjoy it :)

For motivation, I just train 2-3 skills at once. Right now im crafting 50k rune essence into airs WITHOUT runners. Im about 10k in and i just think how much I'll make off of this and every 1-2k ess i craft i go off and train 1 or 2 combat levels. It's been slow progress because i haven't been able to get on that much. In fact ive pretty much only crafted 5k ess because the first day i got the ess i crafted the first 5k.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.
