jgrazotis
For those who dont know The Prestige is a movie about 2 magicians competing by having a better act than the other, and they kind of become obsessed in finding the others secrets i saw it today and i have a question but it kind of ruins it so ill hide it [hide]The bit that puzzles me is the last act that the main guy does, the 1 where he doubles himself and kills the man in the box. What i dont understand is that at the end where he is dying he says that it took courage to get into that machine every night, not knowing whether he was going to be the man in the box or the prestige who presents himself afterwards. Also it show the first time he tried the machine on himself, he killed the other guy, but every time he duplicates himself, with all the shows hes done, hes bound to be the guy in the box some time, so does his double like know everything he knows, and if he did die, then theres like a 50% chance that its a different person who is him everyday and that its probably one of his doubles at the end of the movie talking to his rival...puzzles me[/hide] that kind of didnt make much sense... thanks to mitsubishi64 who made this sig
Adam007
If he was exactly duplicated, his memory would be duplicated too. So if you were to talk to the original and the copy, they both would claim to be the original. The true original probably died though. Memory didn't change, but consciousness did. There's a lot of different theories though, anyone will tell you something about that movie.

Harrington
One of my favourite movies of last year. It's not very often that I come across a movie that has me guessing the ending for so long.... loved it. However, it's been posted here before lol http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=683 ... t=prestige
Lenin64
That movie confused me so much...I got it eventually, though. But yea, his memory would have been duplicated, too, so each copy would be the exact same as the original. And it would have been scary getting in there- drowning is an awfully painful way to die. Command the Murderous Chalices! Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow- Death to Moby Dick!BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
