pryomancer
I've got an xbox360 for xmas, and I would like to get it hooked up to play live. I've looked on a lot of sites, but haven't really found the answer I need. I have a wireless router, but it's downstairs and my pc and xbox are in my room upstairs. Do I need the xbox adapter (which is ridiculously overpriced), do I even need live to connect wirelessly? Can I connect my xbox and pc with an ethernet cable which came with the xbox, to share the pc's wireless connection? Also, does the 48hr free xbox gold membership mean 48 hours of membership coverage, or 48 hours total playing time? I think that's everything I need answered, chances are something else will arise, so if anyone can help with those future questions, much appreciated. I know you guys can help me, so thanks very much in advance.
Andy
The 48 hours means 48 hours of play-time, and once you get the membership it'll connect automatically. (unless your house is humumgus.) add me when you get it -PenguinFlanger.
pryomancer
Will do. So if I register it, I might not get some of the errors that pop up when I test the network settings from my xbox? And can I just plug the ethernet cable in from my pc to my xbox? Will that work? I tried it earlier and it screwed up my pc's internet connection. I have no idea if plugging it up to your pc will work. What type of errors are coming up? Make sure your wireless allows not only your computers but also the xbox. Earpy
The 48 hours trial is 48 hours of Xbox live, NOT play time. So 48 hours from redeeming the code, it will run out, regardless if your online or not.# As for connecting, you can plug one end of the ethernet cable into the router and the other into the modem and you SHOULD be able to connect without any problems. I agree on you with the wireless adapter being over priced, just like everything that Microsoft (M$) offer :-w Hope I helped...
adam_ross0
48 hours of Xbox Live means 2 days, online or not. As for the wireless adapter, is there any way you could buy an ethernet cable and connect to your 360 that way? If not, then you'll either have to unplug it from your PC and to your 360 if you want to play, or buy the Wireless Adapter for the incredibly low price of just $100! Nah, just kidding. It's rediculous..oh well.
pryomancer
That's the problem, my router is downstairs, between it and my xbox is floor. Does that mean I need to go wireless? And buy this damn expensive adapter?
adam_ross0
Most likely, unless you want to drill some holes and snake some cables through your roof/floor. I drilled through my walls to my PC in my room, so it's whatever you choose.
Captainkidd
The 48 hours is from buying halo 3 right? I thought that if you buy a new 360 you get a month free on gold membership...I could be wrong though... I got a question, is the computer in your room connect to the modem? If so how?
