Puzzle pirates is where you go around as a pirate and everything is tetris orientated, very confuzzlicating if you ask me.

put him in jail

Then i'll just wait for him to drop the e-soap

This is a wonderful idea. You might, however, want to make the "sea wilderness" incredibly large. Hidden coves to repair in, areas with dense fog, stormy seas, and the ever-present requirement of having a good navigator on board.

You might make it so you can outfit each cannon with different types of ammunition. Say you had a single cannon on the port side of your ship, and you stocked it with fifteen standard cannonballs, five explosive shells (slow-burning fuse lit when fired), and five sets of grapeshot.

Standard cannonballs would deal their damage to the ship itself; explosive shells would deal slightly more damage with the addition of damaging any crew members near the point of impact; and grapeshot would be used primarily to foul up the enemy's rigging, hampering their speed and possibly dropping anyone above to the deck.

Visibility should be an issue as well. A crow's nest would allow a crew member to see further than anyone else below. Fog should be a problem in some areas, but it should allow for easier ambushes. There should also be firing platforms above the deck for archers or crossbowmen, allowing for greater range.

For steering the ship, the wheel should only set the heading, and there should be a clickable option on each sail to make the ship move faster or slower, to avoid the problem of people not knowing how to trim sails and such. To be able to fire on an enemy ship, a broadside of your ship must be facing them, or in the event of a sailboat, whichever way your crew aims the cannon.

A ship's navigator would be a blessing, as his or her main job is to stay below and consult a chart (can be bought - the more expensive the chart, the better). He can then relay to the helmsman optimal courses or oncoming dangers. The chart would have a small dot that indicates the position of the ship. There would also be an option to add your own markers on the chart to make finding your private stashes easier. Of course, if the crew abandons ship, the navigator would REALLY want to take the ship's charts with him, so the enemy can't find your stashes of loot. Areas with favourable winds could also be marked.

Of course, all this means that the crew will have to trust each other, and more importantly, work together. A good crew will obey the captain's commands (morale and discipline would be an issue) in order to survive longer.

Lastly, each ship above lifeboat class should have a name. Thus, there may come a time when every sailor on Runescape fears the Albatross or the Red Crusher, because of its reputation for killing enemy crews and sinking their ships. Others may want to hunt down some ships because of a reputation of wealth. With ship costs being high, and ships being constantly sunk, availability of names shouldn't be a problem.

Haha, they have to ask permisson of the captain to use the lifeboats.

Sailor - 'Cap'n! Can we board the lifeboats, the ship is going down fast! And we are being fired upon by the enemy ships cannons!'

*Captain is dead*

Sailor - 'Oh shi...'

*Cannonball smashes into the side of the ship*

nice post i like it i wish we can make ships

ah! Love it! Very well thought out. Nice idea. It's actually quite complex, so maybe it could be a branch off of Runescape? Or they could make "Sailing" a new skill. And thus, solve the problem of what level your ship is. Average all of the sailing stats together and yada yada. As for the part with only having one person aboard.. What's wrong with you?!!! Lol. But seriously, if you only have two or three people aboard, then maybe in certain levels you can only attack ships with the same amount of people. Lvl 1-3 Sea Wildy: Attack with same level system of land wildy and attack within crew of two people. (Meaning you can attack a crew with up to two more people than your ship, or as low as two people than your ship)

Lvl 4-5: 4-5 level range. Attack with people that have 3-5 more or less than your crew.

You know, etc. Something like that. Lol.

I think it would be better off as a mini game like castle wars then anything

...

Cannon balls are not explosive!!! a big ball of metal.....

and im pretty sure they did not have explosive shels at that time....

i like the idea but i do think it would be a very very big update so i doubt it will happen

but if it did happen i would love to see range not only with cannons but also with arrows from ship to ship (cannons damage ship) (while range would attack a player invidualy on board the ship if they are on the top deck)

mages cold also play a signifacant role (tele ship to port sarim 200k law runes lol)

and fianlly if this did happen tthe ships would have to be at least several mil for the smallest size (in intial cost) and then a lot more for repairs and maybe maintance (like in real life)

the idia is kinda good but the thing is that runesape will become MUCH more complex, which means more buggs and more work for jagex. Also more moeny sisnse ppl will go tp p2p for that BUT problably they will charge more monthly fee vecause its alot of work,,

 No No No! I see this idea all the time, I strongly hope 'ships' never get put into RS it just isnt in the feel of the game.
