kingjoe2002
Was just looking at Dell's catalogue and saw their Dimension 2800 for $300 bucks including monitor. Ill supose that the monitor is $50 bucks. Now im wondering if anyone can squeeze even more out of that. Best i got was a $350 comp but with a lot better specs. Anyway, just for fun 8)

Pyro
Most likely you will get an extremely slow graphics card, and thus the computer probably won't run many games at all. Make sure you know exactly what you're getting before you buy a cheap computer.

zonda
uhh...... so...... your telling us you saw a computer for 250 bucks? and thats all your telling us? more like im wondering if anyone can beat it. Beat what? ... what, you want us to see how crappy of a computer we can build or something? Honestly, a $250 computer might as well be thrown in the garbage can.... it is like those rusty POS cars on the side of the road going for $300, sure they run, but they also leak oil, have a bad tranny, rusted sides, broken headlights, no radio, and a cofee stained interior. I suggest you save up some money and forget about anything under $550 (and that is without things like the OS, screen, keyboard, mouse, speakers, ect) ... Bmw
You can usually get barebone kits for like $100 - 200 US. A cheap computer like that is meant to be built upon, not to actually use. Who's going to use a cheap computer with litte RAM, a terrible processor, even worse graphics cards, and the probability of seeing a BSOD daily? I wouldn't go under $700 CAD. PhrstBrn
Buy a GameCube for $100 USD and run Linux on it (http://www.gc-linux.org/). Although it's experimental right now, and *barely* runs. For $150 USD you can buy an Xbox and run Linux (http://www.xbox-linux.org/). That's actually stable and usable, however, I've never tried it. I don't feel the need to run Linux on an Xbox, when I can just run it on my home desktop (that's what I'm using as we speak). I don't think you can get much cheaper than that. You need a 50$ modchip (for a decent Xenium at least) for the xbox last I heard 8) That's still $50 cheaper I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. It does require MechAssult, however.
