when maging on defence style, do you get the same mage exp as the one without defence?

nope, if you did then there would be no point in using the regular made since it would be free exp

You share the exp, pretty sure 1/2 to def and 1/2 to mage, so don't do that.

Yea, it splits it up. Not worth it really.

I'm completely sure the experience is split in two between magic and defence (1 magic xp and 1 defence xp per damage point), but you'll still get the same base exp in magic.
