Runescape: Coming to a console near you!?

Featured Replies

I found this link on another forums and it seems to state that RS is coming to consoles? http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=167285

Talking about PS3 specifically, Gower said that Jagex could probably get Runescape running on the machine right now, adding overall that "Technically porting the game to different platforms isn't a huge amount of work."

Now, this platform version of Runescape has apparently already been created...

Runescape developer Jagex has revealed a console version of its browser-based fantasy MMO...

Gower also said this...

"We've always tried to be a very agile company whereby if the players say they want something, or there's something not quite right, we'll fix it there and then", Gower said

Does this mean that if enough players show interest in bringing Runescape to console it could happen? Jagex has shown this trend in the past, whereby if enough players rallied for something (such as clan support) it was brought into the game. IS this a possibility?

Of course bringing Runescape to console will have a lot of technicalities, but do you think this could happen in the years to come? Andrew Gower has said that is is possible, and even "revealed a console version" of Runescape. Would you play Runescape if it were a PS3 game? What are your thoughts on this?

Discuss :D

waste of perfectly good console if you ask me.

and they say so much, first time i heard this was years back when some newbs wanted it on GAMEBOY ADVANCE.

ppl buy console games because of fast gameplay , good graphics etc. and RELIABILITY. can you honestly say RS has any of these 3 factors ? =;

Ha, all that needs to happen to get Runescape on the PS3 is to get Java running for the PS3's browser (if that hasen't happened already). You can connect a wireless mouse and keyboard to the PS3 so... it would be just like playing it on a computer.

This article was made in july 07 yeah .. Do some digging you'll see this idea has surfaced and re-surfaced many times in the past.

I'm not saying its a bad idea, hell even I would play a little if I had a ps3.. but i doubt it will amount to something big, were it ever to be launched.,

people take ps3 games seriously, and RS is known to be the laughing stock already among many other gaming communities :P ps3 fans won't buy it.. but RS fans will. But why shuld they ? They play for free over the internet already.

On a side note I'd like to add, that Jagex are big owners of the java gaming market. But they will get seriously burnt if they try messing around with the big boys in console gaming. (microsoft, ea games, sony etc)

they need to stop and think about why other mmorpgs don't meddle so much in the console gaming market::::: they dont belong there.

I would probably never play runescape on a console, the fact that I can't check TIF at the same time while doing all those boring things like fishing would drive me crazy. I don't think this feature will come and if it does I don't think lots of players will use it.

On another note: I always get laughed at when I say I play runescape :(

What can I say? I'm a rebel, like Ché Guevara.

What the hell is Ash doing while Team Rocket says their rhyme?

My points exactly. Those who do not play RS , scorn RS.

Besides, another main factor of Console gaming is the option to play multiplayer simultaneously .

How thinkable is it that they will allow up to 4 split screens in same television, where all 4 must type in their private password and bankpins, while 3 others are oggling .
