virus...am i over reacting???

I got a new comp and the old on had about 300 instances of this one virus that can neither be removed nor corantined except by reinstalling xp...

 

 

 

I amy have 2 quit rs because of this, as i dont want to put my new comp at risk.

 

 

 

the virus slowly slowed down my internet connection

 

 

 

actually its not me thats quitin rs,....my parents r makin me....but r they over reacting??

Viruses isolated on another machine at your house...means no affecting your computer. Just as long as you didn't do that weird stuff you did with your old machine.

 

 

 

Parents telling you to quit RS...hey, that's their choice. They wanna raise their kid the way they wanna raise their kid, and not many of us can say whether or not they're overreacting.

I'm confused here. As long as the virus is on your old machine it isn't going to get to your new machine. Plus, I highly doubt that a virus can only be removed through "reinstalling XP".

 

 

 

So I have no idea what you and/or your parents are on, especially if you think runescape is the problem or cause of the virus.

Any type of virus can be remove with a good anti-virus.

And as good antivirus, I recommend Kaspersky.

 

 

 

So, for your parents, I think they do what they think is right. The only thing is if they say that you are getting those viruses from RuneScape, that is very wrong, and my parents were like that when I lived out there. They told me to stop Rs as they thought that was where the viruses came from.

 

 

 

I explained how RuneScape was safe and virus free (you know, the game is on the server and all) and it did work.

 

 

 

Maybe your parents are like mine and are paranoid about viruses on the internet. They think comes from anywhere. I wonder why they got the internet in the first place if they think like that :-k .

sumfera1, I'm going to state this once and only once, because I may forget to check this thread for some reason... (I probably will, but oh well, need to be covered anyway.)

 

 

 

You WILL NOT ever get a virus from playing RuneScape through the RS Java Applet. However, if your parents do not have a house-wide anti-advert policy, one or more of those adverts above the F2P game applet may have infected your machine, along with all the other lack in safety practices used while browsing other sites, as well as while IM/IRC/etc.-ing during an internet session. In short, if you're not practicing proper security and safety while on the internet, anything and everything you do, give or take a few things, can potentially be very dangerous.

 

 

 

My doomsaying and warnings end here. Any further posts will be in regard to cleaning up that old PC, as well as protecting both the old and new PCs against any further potential threats.
