My latest signature attempt

I've been working on this for a few days in and out of exams. My personal opinion of it is that it's my best to date and I quite like the text that I've done for it (it doesn't stand out quite so much any more in my opinion :P). I also think I've managed to blend the render with the backgtound much better than I've done previously.

However there are a few bits which seem a bit yucky to me especially the 'blending' (lol) around the top left of the sword which I kinda messed up to be honest.

Anyway, that's what I personally think. I'd very much like to hear everyone's c/c about it and hopefully improve it a bit so please share your advice :D

(Please ignore the lack of a proper border because GIMP didn't want me to put one on for some reason :?)

Well the colours/brushing on the background is a lot better on this one. the background colours are pretty decent but need to be smudged more in my opinion. There seems to be "2" flows going on, one that goes with the character slight down/right and one that goes with the brushing (What you call blending) at the sword which points left/down, that's not a good thing at all as it makes the signature confusing (). The blending with the render could be a lot better but you improved a bit (). The text idea is good (Lower opacity, different colours rather then white ). but I'm not a fan of the font, it doesn't really fit to this signature in my opinion, the text is indeed really hard (I know all about it as I still "suck" at it). Overall it's a decent signature, you improved a lot compared to your other signatures ().

Edit: I have to say it's a confusing render.

You are improving zodiark :)

The render does need blending have a look at tuts really. i think you have just blurred the render? sharpen the main bits of the render up as it vreates a real focal point. You could maybe make the text follow the line of the sword to make it fit better :)

background is good as well just all needs sharpening up a bit as it seems a bit low quality.

Keep it up

Thank you both for your comments they're greatly appreciated.

I'm glad that you think I've improved and I think I know the reason that you think it's confusing Julius (other than the flow of the render which now that I look at it does seem to be a little strange). This signature was my first where I wasn't at least in some way following a tutorial. I found some things that I wanted to implement into a signature (the render, the original background render which was of a car exploding and the c4d). I may have rushed in and put them all in without thinking how they would impact on each other. As well as that I recently downloaded about 200 new brushes and wanted to try as many of them as I could which probably didn't help loads :P

In response to Chaz, yes I did blurr the render in the hope that it would help show the motion of the sword etc. I'll try sharpening up some of the key areas and experiment with the text and look for a different font maybe. I think the blurred effect of the background was due to me playing around with all my new brushes :P but I wanted to try and reduce how much the background stood out (which was alot at first).

Thanks again for the advice and I'll try and make those improvements when I next have some spare time :)

Indeed, some good improvement.

The only things to work on here are blending and making the background suit the render better, the colours don't seem to match. Also, try to sharpen up some parts of the render like Chaz said.

Keep it up.

The contrast between the render and background is too big. You gotta think about your render choice and how it goes.

The render in this is really awkward. It doesnt look like its correct, and think about render placement too.
