Microsoft Private Folder [Resolved - Please Lock]

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I'm trying to download a large file (3GB), and I'm saving it to my Microsoft Private Folder (no it's not porn), but to keep it downloading, the folder has to be "unlocked" and because Microsoft is so cool they made it lock by itself after around like 5-10 minutes, thus pausing the downloading and have me have to unlock the folder again. This is a pain because I can't go and do something else for 4-5 hours then come back and have the file almost done downloading. Does anybody know anyway to keep it unlocked?

Why are you using MS Private folder? It's a total pain in the posterior!

Just download it to your normal download location instead.

Get rid of MS PF, it really is naff. Do you know MS are pulling it? Or have they already done that? It's easier to encrypt a folder for your profile anyway, and much more effective.

I have files that I don't like other people seeing, and since I share this computer with my family, I figured it would be helpful. And it's already been downloading for like 2 hours, so I don't want to start it over.

You aren't going to be able to download said 'private' file without leaving whatever encrypted or private folder you use unlocked and accessible. You either sit there and make sure it stays unlocked and nobody uses the machine the whole time or you get up and risk people seeing said unlocked folder.

I fail to see what someone still using a family computer may have to hide from said family, especially files ranging into the gigabytes in size.

He already said it wasnt the kind of files I download :P

A spare question... Would be useful if this gets answered.

Sweet, I realized that there's an option to set the auto-lock time, so I set it to "never".

I got a question for you... Exactly HOW buried is this option that you happened to find? :-s
