For curved edges i used to curved rectangle tool to draw one, then turn it into a selection + invert and then cut it out.

 

I don't know what going in the bit with the nav bar.. Maybe like a tree thing like you see on most forums.. Such as this:

It's pretty nice :thumbup:, the major flaws (In my opinion) is the boring background colour and that "semi-hard" to read font :thumbdown:.

Unlike most of you I don't want a background full of brushes and "grunge" textures...Its just a style and i don't want it all gfxie looking. The way i got by this is remembering "Less is more"

 

 

 

The more basic is it for me, the better it will look.

It looks pretty nice so far, but I'd definitely remove the blocks over the photo in the banner. They're really annoying and don't go with the rest of the design very well. But other than that, not bad so far. :thumbup:

I used both photoshop to find the coordinates and dreamweaver to build them ;)

Looking great so far, great use of colors and effects.

Really, believe me, they aren't much harder ;)

 

 

 

And this site is quite good in explaining and showing examples, it also helped me out with some problems with css and html earlier... :

 

 

 

And for the portfolio, for a first one it looks quite good, but i would say that especially around the text/news boxes it's quite plain. Try out some combinations and look if you can make the boxes more attractive (for example: image backgrounds with low opacity, different borders (colors etc...)). Just look around for idea's on other websites i'd say :
