Lord_Shalaj
The Monster Testing Dungeon It's a totally new concept, not based on any future or current features. Introduction I'm not going to beat around the bush. I'm not good at that kind of stuff. Anyway, The Monster Testing Dungeon [Lets name it MTD for convienience) will be a dungeon/place where you could try out the various monsters found around RS. I know you can find many flaws in this concept, but please hold on and read the entire thing. The basic idea It is often that noticed that, a person who wishes to try to kill some bosses, or needs to kill a new monster he never did for Slayer or whatever reason, he often underestimates the power of that monster. It is not entirely his mistake either, there aren't guides for each and every monster. So, if we take the example of a person, who wishes to solo the KBD (just an example, mind you), he will need to know how many bosses he can kill with his inventory and equipment or how much food does one boss take. Upto now, that person has always had to go out there and take the risk. The MTD will be a place in which the player could go out and test the monster he intends to kill. It would help him analyze and plan out his trips and also understand how well his stats will work against that particular monster. Main features of the MTD -> The player will NOT get any xp for the hits he delivers to the specific monster. If xp would be allowed, then it would be outrageous of course. -> If a player dies while trying to kill the specific monster, he doesn't lose his items but simply gets transported to the main hall. -> The monster which the player will be fighting will have the same/exact features of the monster which is out there in the rs world. For example, if a player wishes to see how manu dust devils he can kill in 2-3 Sharks, but the careless player forgot to wear his facemask while testing out the Devil in the MTD, then the Dust Devil will hit as hard and lower stats as before. Therefore, even for testing out a Dragon, you will need the anti - dragon shield. -> All runes and arrows will be returned back to you after the fight/fights. This is not easy and free xp, as I have already told you, you DON'T get xp here. -> All food and potions used up in the MTD will NOT be returned. -> No drops Infact, as you might say, in this place the player only loses items, but gains the knowledge and insight of killing the specific monster. Disagreements 1. Taking the risk is what makes RS fun. It's balanced. There are quite a few out there who don't like risks and prefer to be prepared. The MTD is optional and it is your choice whether you would use it first or not. 2. Thats free xp! No it's not, and I have mentioned that above. 3. That would mean less people dieing at my training location! Sorry, but seeing other people die is not a strong disagreement. I'll put more here as I here out your response. Conclusion As you can see, it's a fairly good way for us to be well prepared and even result in lesser deaths due to negligence. As for the location, you could keep it anywhere you want, though I'd keep it in a small village to make the village/city more important. Maybe Al Kharid or Relleka. What I feel is that it should be open to both PTP and FTP as they aren't gaining any extra items from this are they? Though FTP players CANNOT fight PTP monsters. ---- Well, I've had my say..what's yours? Refrain from flaming, constructive criticism is always welcome. Thanks.. Zaaps1
It would be helpful, but it wouldn't fit. Players are supposed to try out new monsters by themselves. No matter the "balance", they shouldn't just go to a safe location to try out the monster. For me it's just a "simply can't happen". Disagree if you please. ~It's Super Effective! If you do this, why not create a place where you can practice playing runescape without losing anything. Sorry but i totally disagree. Smashing Pumpkins Fan? bbjoe282
it would take the risk out of some parts of RS eg. you go test to see how you would fair aginst a GWD boss, when you see that you cannot do it you keep trying after you level up until you cannot die doing that. this would take risk out of the game knowing when you go to the GWD that you will not get killed by the boss because you have perfected your method. people need risk and need to learn how to cope with failure then there is actually somthing to loose. Lord_Shalaj
At the above person.. You do realise that I had posted this reason as one of the "Disagreements" to avoid discussing it again. As I said, it is entirely optional. Thanks.. Lord Shalaj [99 Woodcutting] [99 Strength][99 Hitpoints] "What will come, will come....We will have to face it when it does!" Georgelemmons
We realize it's optional, but for the players who do actually want to take risks, and play the game the way it was meant to be played, it would be completely unfair. Eagle_Tas
I disagree to this concept for the same reasons as the above replies has stated. It is not a good idea for more reason than the already stated. What is even more worse is that it would give Jagex another reason to hand-lead us more than they already are with the automatic warning pop-ups, the wilderness ditch and the many unnecessary danger signs that are already all over the game. We have enough of the patronism as it is for a game supposedly designed for "adults". :shame:
Pianist4
I like this idea but unless you would get the pots and food back it would be useless and better to just go to that monster. :(
Ultimakomoto
Whoa! Wait a minute! What about drops? You never said people won't GET drops from these "training monsters". You're basicly paving the way for free hilts. :shame: So...no, no and still no. Need a new signature....perhaps...
Lord_Shalaj
No drops obviously.. I thought that would be understood. sibmaster
No drops obviously.. I thought that would be understood. Not nescercarily. If you don't mension that there would be no drops from the monster, then people could think that it is possible to get drops. Smashing Pumpkins Fan?
