i am currently trying to get 85 atk, 80 def and 90 str. I am using a rune Battle axe, but im not sure this is the best weapon to use as it is kind of slow. Any help or advise will be kind.

No. The rune scimitar is the ideal mix between speed and strength.

Rune scimitar, there is NO weapon that's better in f2p, unless you use a 2h for KO'ing.
