I was bored after finishing my lego robot (<_<) so I decided to pixel a bit, my main problems were shading so I tried to make a signature that was "only" dithering.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I wanted to make that sketchy imperfect look on the letters. Also if someone could make the white transparent here would be a lifesaver.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Made another "Pixel hugger" for the same reason, I guess penguins are a pixel tradition on this forum thanks to Jopie :P. Dithering was really random here #-o, wasn't able to see the dark colours because I have a problem with that (My eyes).

 

 

 

Any kind of comments, C/c or Tips are welcome.

Both look good, but I'll focus on the penguin for now (not that hard to do for me haha).

 

 

 

It looks good, but the dithering is indeed a bit random. It's usually a good idea to start with placing different shades next to each other without dithering, and once you're done with that you can start dithering the edges to make the transitions between the shades look smoother.

 

 

 

Like this:

And then this:

Etc.

 

 

 

It's usually best to use the above pattern for dithering (like you did with the letters, good job) instead of randomly placing pixels.

Wow, I love the text. Good shading and style. Now make me one please. For practice. If you want...I mean, I'd like one, and I like your style and shading and whatnot. IF you want. JUst the word shiny in the colours of a rainbow starting with red and ending with what ever comes there

Thanks Jopie, I started it out just like the letters but it didn't turn out very well and Charlie gave me the advice to do some random dither as penguin fur isn't "perfect" which I overdid (By a lot).

btw what robot are you making? is it with mindstorms nxt?

Indeed, my dad "challenged" (Not really) me to build a robot that scans around itself and pick up eventual objects that it find, harder than you think when it comes to programming.

plus you have to tell it to pick up the stuff when it finds it... the claws that come with it suck at that.

 

 

 

my brother's currently building an elephant out of a book but we don't have enough large gears to finish it right now.

Elephant out of a book? that's really random :lol:, too bad about the gear thing :|, fixed the program now, going to rebuild it a bit just and I'm done, might make the program more advance as well.

 

 

 

It's pretty much a "modded" version of the claw and it's base with the ultrasonic sensor, it can search for items 360 degrees around it and if it finds anything it picks it up, a lot harder than you think, need to rebuild the gears as well because they are getting "jammed" when it spins around too much (Hard to explain).

Nope and I haven't heard about it until, never going to join anything like that either, it doesn't interest me a lot, I strictly build for fun without taking it to another level.
